BEIJING: China has banned civil servants, students and teachers in its mainly Muslim Xinjiang region from fasting during Ramzan and ordered restaurants to stay open, official websites showed as the holy month began on Thursday. Officials in the region's Bole county were told: "During Ramzan do not engage in fasting, vigils or other religious activities," according to a local government website report of a meeting this week. Going one step beyond simply discouraging government employees to forgo fasting, police and court officials in Awat county were ordered to "take the lead in teaching family members not to fast and not to participate in Ramzan-related religious activities", according to a post on China Legal Media. As in previous years, school children were included in directives limiting Ramzan fasting and other religious observances. Kalia_Test Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Pak is busy fighting Terrorists in the operation Zarb-e-Azb ( Sword of the Prophet ) It also has to worry about Eastern and Western borders and try to prevent fallout of any Saudi-Iran conflict on its own soil. Still it has done its bit for Islamic world ( it has no pretensions of being Secular,etc ) by supporting Palestine cause and also doing its bit for Rohingya muslims. Maybe it is a bit too much to expect them to go fight everyone's battle. We all know how Pak has been a victim of terrorism by fighting someone else's war Pak needs to use its higher than himalayan friendship to persuade China to be a little more accommodative about the diverse cultures and religions within its region. Maybe it has already started the process. We may not know.
