India -Pakistan all-time team v best teams of all time

How would an all-time Indo-Pak team fare against the best teams of all time. My alltime Indo-Pak team would be 1.Hanif Mohammad 2.Sunil Gavaskar 3.Rahul Dravid 4.Sachin Tendulkar 5.Javed Miandad 6.Mahendra Singh Dhoni 7.Kapil Dev 8.Imran Khan 9.Wasim Akram 10.Abdul Qadir 11.Waqar Younus 12th man Subhash Gupte The bowling attack could have matched that of an all-time world xi with Qadir,Imran,Wasim and Waqar together with Kapil Dev while Gavaskar,Hanif Mohammad Tendulkar,Dravid,Zaheer Abbas and Miandad could match the likes of Jack Hobbs,Len Hutton.Greg Chappell,Viv Richards,Wally Hamond etcThis team has 2 great all-rounders unlike any other great team -the equivalent of containing Gary Sobers.Imagine this team against an all-time West Indian team with Greenidge,Haynes,Viv Richards, Headley,Lara,Sobers,Dujon,Marshall,Ambrose,Holding ,Roberts etc or an Australian all-time xi with Hayden,Trumper,Bradman,Ponting,Greg Chappell,Keith Miller,Adam Gilchrist,Warne,Lillee Mcgrath and Jeff Thomson.I think the Aussie and Calypsos all-time xi's had marginally stronger bowling attacks particularly with the likes of Sobers and Warne giving versatility.The batting of both teams was considerably stronger to the all time Indo-Pak team.I would back the Australian and West Indian team s to beat the Indo-Pak team by about 3 wickets or 45 runs.

Harsh, are you talkin about ODI or test team? Since you put Hanif there, I would presume you are talking about test side. I would replace Abdul Qadir with Kumble or Prasanna. Also would replace Hanif Mohammed with Sehwag.

If that team is only for the subcontinent then I would add Sehwag for Hanif. If it is outside the subcontinent then Bedi/Chandrashekar/Gupte should be in for Qadir. Also with 6 batsman and 2 all-rounders the team can accommodate a better wicket-keeper than Dhoni (but not as good of a batsman) like Bari.

yeah - I would agree with replacing Qadir with Kumble. Sehwag for Hanif too The English, Aussie, and WI teams especially away will have too much for the batting of this side. The Indo Pak batting will struggle vs a WI pace attack of Marshall, Holding, Ambrose .... and an Aus one of McGrath, Lindwall, Lillee, Miller. English bowling at home , again will be quite good... Id Fancy Indo Pak spinners to do damage in Aus. Trueman, Anderson, Willis, Botham, Underwood, though Indo pak teams own bowling will be great in England and English batting probably not as good as WI and Aus. The battng away from home would find it hard vs Hadlee, Bond and Boult with Vettori supporting and also Steyn, Donald, Pollock, Tayfield, Kallis.. !! However Indo pak team should have a pretty awesome pace attack to run through those batting line ups. IN India, if the side was packed with Spin. Imran, Wasim, Kumble, Bedi and Chandra/Qadir/ Offie like Bhajji ... that spin attack would bamboozle any other AT XI teams and nullify their pace attacks for the most part. Its probably interesting too to pit this side against a Rest of the World XI: Hobbs, Greenidge, Bradman, Richards, Kallis, Sobers, Gilchrist, Hadlee, Marshall, Warne, Steyn

It would probably beat the combined India-Pakistan all-time XI outside the subcontinent but it would lose in the SC. If you make these replacements: Len Hutton for Greenidge, Lara for Kallis, McGrath for Hadlee and Ambrose for Steyn, then that Rest of the World XI could win even in the subcontinent.

Its a fine team. I will make two changes only. 1) Chandrasekhar in place of Qadir Qadir was the best SC spinner in Asia, but outside it, he has been disappointing. Chandra has much better chance of succeeding outside Asia so I would pick him over Qadir. 2) Bari in place of MSD When playing against players like Bradman, Richards, Sobers and Chappell, can't afford a drop catch. We need the best gloveman from Indo-Pak which is Wasim Bari, irrespective of his batting credentials. And specially keeping to pacers like Imran, Waqar and Wasim, you need the best possible option. Sehwag is not an option here. We need an opener who can perform in all conditions specially against bowlers like Lillee, Marshall and McGrath. Hanif is best suited for the role.

Actually even in the subcontinent I would not pick Qadir. He has some great performances in Pakistan but still averages 26 there and 30+ in every other country in Asia (and outside).

Arguably being a greater match-winner Sehwag may nose out Hanif.Arguably Sehwag is the best match-winning batsmen ever to have emerged from the sub-continent.The all-time xi or an all-time Australain or West Indian x1 would have stronger batting line ups . I think instead of Qadir Bishen Bedi,Subhash Gupte or even Prasanna may be better.

good analyis.Overall all time world xi considerably stronger if you asses batsmen.An all-time Australian xi or West Indian all-time xi would beat the all-time Indo-Pak team because of more explosive batsmen and more versatile and hostile bowling attacks.

Very Sorry for late reply,apologize.I am talking of test teamInfact I may replace Qafdir with Subhash Gupre .Bishen Bedi and like you Prasanna.May also replace Hanif with Sehwag as like Viv Richarsd Sehwag was a match-winner .
