I doubt that he will be anywhere close to Kohli by March 2013.
His competition is with Yusuf pathan and jadeja in terms of batting. Kohli is far too good to be compared to Nohit

Rohit will be one of our future greats in Tests. Let him get a run in the Test side and you will see what he's really capable of :grin:
I izz agree with this. He is tailor made for Test matches and should be given a chance ASAP.

Even I agree .. Give him a chance ASAP against NZL and get rid of the misconception once and for all. We need him out of selectors group of players ASAP. Let him fail in Tests too so that he can be thrown out like Kaifu Miyan

I always thought Kaif was hard done by the selectors. He played a decent knock in Tests IIRC against SA but never got another chance as he didn't do too well in odis :sad:

Hard done or not .. I dont know but we all know that he had ample oppourtunities and he didnt help his cause by grabbing onto those.. its the same thats happening with rohit sharma .. he has got ample oppourtunities and has failed miserably.. i mean this guy has been there even longer than Kohli and still havent even done 30% of what he has done. Surely he has the talent to do justice .. anyone who is serious about the game cant have an attitude I dont like ODIs and I am only a test player.. he fails to get starts against proper teams .. I mean We can say its an attitude problem if someone settles in and then throws his wicket but when someone struggles miserably in the middle you all better know what the problem is. I dont know how his confidence returns when he faces Windies or Zimbabwe but seriously we cant keep sidelining Rahane and Tiwary just because someone shows a good technique in IPL and Domestic Kirkut.

He was ok but his time is gone.

Would you say the same thing about Pujara if say he's given a chance in T20s & odis and doesn't succeed? Everyone can see that players like Pujara and Rahane are more suited to Tests and they have to be given a chance to succeed in their preferred format. Same with Rohit. Just because he has all the shots in the book we mistake him to be the ideal odi player. He can very well turn out to be so but to me his best format is Tests and that's where he should be given an opportunity to sink or swim.

Agree but I think....Kaif is pretty far in the waiting line ....I guess his career is done and dusted for now,but weirder things have happened. Today,We know Rohit is getting to a point of being hopeless or Raina would be found out at test level but 2-3 years back when they were showing sparks of brilliance,Kaif was slipping down on the radar for both fans and selectors.

Kaif's time is gone. I was simply saying that he deserved more chances in Tests when he was unceremoniously dropped a few years back. Now it's all water under the bridge.

Hard done or not I dont know ... but I know that Kaif got ample oppourtunities to prove himself both in ODIs and Tests,... A few good innings in between of a lot of failures doesnot justify him a position after 4-5 years in international cricket. In rohit's case.. he has been playing for over 5 years now and yet havent even done 30% of what Kohli has done in lesst than that time. If its about chances in tests then we can always try him out but blocking other potential ODI players from grabbing that position is BS. People say he has great technique but how come a player with great technique fail to get starts.. I mean if one settles in and then throws his wicket away we may say that the guy has class but lacks the attitude but what do you say to a player with a lot of class who fails to even get a good start to his innings. I mean he certainly cant be having an attitude saying that I am a test player and I dont deserve to play in these bogos ODIs .. He must be trying hard and yet for a player of hss class to fail continously to get starts says that his class is overrated. Its time he makes way for others.. Enough of Batting Bhuvaneswar Kumar for the Indian team.
