Why can't our players protest/boycott against stupid scheduling by BCCI - no practice matches...

Not enough practice matches on important tours. We start Tests half-prepared. Why dont ppl like SRT, SG, RD, VVS, AK combine and say that they wont tour with this stupid schedules? Only if they unite and boycott will BCCI change. Otherwise Test-1 and 2 will just be "practice matches" where we make all mistakes!

Let me take a moment to laugh at the highlighted part. Isn't it obvious by now that players like SRT lack the intestinal fortitude to confront the BCCI on any issues be it bad umpiring , lack of match practice, bad scheduling etc.

I'm not saying lack of practice match is the only reason we are losing Test-1 badly. That is one reason for us being a bit rusty, and good practice matches are an important part of any Away series esp a difficult one like Aus series. Its irritating me no end to see that BCCI cant care less about how well our team does, and our own stalwarts who HAVE THE POWER to boycott and can try to bring a change if they want, dont want to do so! Very frustrating. Why do we fans care so much abt the team and wanting them to win? When BCCI does not care, the team cares but stalwarts wont stand up against nonsense thrown at them by bcci, umpires, etc etc. They just wont protest?

Majority of Indian seniors have this mentality of not complaining about anything and just taking whatever the BCCI gives them lying down (unless it concerns their endorsements). On a personal level it is advantageous for them since they will always be in the good books of the BCCI, but overall for Indian Cricket it is a big loss that players like Sachin Tendulkar dont use their immense clout for the betterment of the game in the country.

i am interested in seeing whether somelike Gangs gets involved in the running of the game once they are done ... these guys dont need to be goody two shoes given that they dont need any financial emoluments .... however having seen the BS that passes for administration of the game they may be best placed to bring abt meaningful change

Ganguly was interviewed by a NDTV couple of days before the team left for australia. on being asked about his post retirement plans he said He would like to spend time with his family and concencrate on their family business ... didnt mention cricket administration .. but i really hope he takes it up in the future.

Come on folks! All of you know better than what you've been saying in thread!! If you all don't know, Indian players are on contract by BCCI. They HAVE to play where ever whenever they are told to. They can't protest that because it'd lead to legal action taken by the body by whom they are 'contracted'. Secondly, the players have been voicing their concern since last 6 months that they needed more practice matches and also breaks leading into the tour. And you all know how it fell on the deaf ears. By the way, how many of you can refuse do a thing asked by your boss, if you have an annual contract with him ?

Yes Chandan. The players are all saints and they all keep quiet only becos they are scared of Big Bad Wolf.
They are not scared of anyone, but they are bound by the contract.
Please! SRT, SG, RD, AK, VVS have the power to bring about a change. But they can care less.
Ok, what are those powers--please tell me? And why would they care less? They've been playing here, despite playing non-stop cricket since last 7 months and also without getting used to the soft grounds ground of Australia. Because of this they are tired like hell in just two days with aching legs and muscles everywhere. On top of that there is huge pressure. They all know about it, they all had voiced their concerns, but what else can they do? Please tell me. Most of the people on the forum are the one who work somewhere. Please all of you tell us how can you refuse to do a project if you are contracted?

Chandan, This is not some silent sufferers and no one will question if bcci overrules. If these 5 bigshots protest, contract or no contract, the media, the people will question - there will be publicity and people will take notice. No way BCCI is gonna bring "some lawyers to deal with these guys" and just get away with BS. Its high time the big 5 make an impact rather than be goody-goody employees of bcci.

That is too much of a distraction for a player, who already has to concentrate on thousand more things about his game. Dravid had questioned that one practice game was not enough. What happened? What notice did the public take or even media? And what could they do after taking notice? There is no way in this world can these players say that they wouldn't play because of this or that, being on a contract. You can't make all these protests after agreeing to the various clauses in the contract. Absolutely no way. It is BCCI which has to take care. It is this board which has to consider what things come first if they want good performance. Players have no powers at all. And in India they don't even have a players' association.

He also gave up captaincy in protest against vengyraj....now we have alll seen how he was fixed. He is a biggy with no powerful lobby backing him in bcci...when the time came ...they fixed him. That is the reason the the other biggies don't open their mouth....some get the backing of the backers in BCCI ....others know they will be fixed if they do.
