zen Posted April 21, 2025 Author Posted April 21, 2025 (edited) As a part of movie nights with my mom, I revisited the films below: Manzil (1979): an easy watch! Holds up well. Suhaag (1979): Now this appears more like a Shashi Kapoor film as I mostly enjoyed parts featuring him. AB’ monotonous acting did not work for me and I skipped many segments involving him. Though AB was good in certain comedy scenes. Mahaan (1983): this film provided unexpected comedy for my mom as I remarked that it was probably made to make AB look ugly (mom likes to watch such films with me because of my comments): a) in one role, he is wearing a funny beard, b) in other, he sports a distracting moustache, and c) in the third, he is made to wear a mini short (pool scene) making him look out of place. On top of that, he has some dance sequences, where he again looks funny. Let’s not forget the “sad” song that he sings over the phone. That had me - Can be watched to get some innocent and unintentional laugh at AB and to enjoy its songs. The Great Gambler (1979): After Mahaan, I said let’s watch this to laugh at AB, but it turned out to be a good time pass watch with memorable songs, phoren locations, interesting cast, etc. Its story is to be ignored as what is being initially chased is a bunch of internal codes that the crook use. Ideally, the crooks would just replace the codes (making a pursuit for that more or less pointless). But, anyways, the film needed a reason to set up an intercontinental chase and the codes provided that. Edited April 22, 2025 by zen Mariyam 1
