fineleg
What do you mean he has to deliver ? He just helped us win a test series against Pakistan two tests ago. But for his counter-attacking 100, believe me, we wouldnt have celebrating our first home test series against Pak in over 2 decades. Please, be realistic with your expectations. Surely, one cannot expect a player to deliver the goods in EVERY innings, people will fail, that is the nature of the game. Its how you back them that generally decide how their careers shape up. Dropping Yuvraj now from the test team could be body blow to his confidence, especially after his achievements over the last 2 years. He did not achieve a lot in Tests over last 2 years. We need to differentiate between Tests and odi/2020 Link to comment
Ram
You guys can can hope as much as you want, but Yuvraj will play all the 4 tests, irrespective of how he performs. Link to comment
Rohip
Yuvraj is 26 and has been playing for around 7 years, yet he has a test average of 34 without a single 100 or 50 outside Asia. He's a useful ODI bat in Asia and half decent outside, why are we keeping out guys like Uthappa and Robin Singh for this piece of tried, tested and failed trash! Link to comment

fineleg
Utterly disappointed. His fans deserve better than this effort. Am willing to give this SOB one more innings (not test). Its obvious he is letting his nervousness wreck himself. There is no way in hell, in an ODI, Yuvraj would have let that full delivery from Lee get past his bat. See the no. of times he was beaten by Hogg's ordinary deliveries ? Yuvraj seems too mindful of losing his spot. He must bat with the gay abandon that makes him successful & not worry about the results. I'd make the below changes for next test: 1) Jaffar makes way for Sehwag 2) Ganguly bats at no. 4, Tendulkar at no. 5 3) If Yuvi flops in the next innings (he may not get to bat, if we bat well in the first innings), bring in Pathan for Yuvraj thats a helluva fantasy :hysterical: he'll bat in 2nd and has to save the test Link to comment
Anakin
The worst part is how UV and Dhoni didn't even make any effort Link to comment
maggot_brain
The worst thing about all this is that Dravid had to move to open to make way for him. Drop Yuvraj, bring in Sehwag for the next test. What's the point of bringing him if you don't play him? Link to comment
Hawkeye
The worst part is how UV and Dhoni didn't even make any effort That's the point. It's all very well saying that he did so well in Pakistan and should be backed for the remainder of the series but look at the dimissals in the series so far. Whilst he faced quite a good delivery today it should have been picked and blocked (harbhajan seemed to manage). Similiarly Dhoni's contribution to his dismissals have been appauling certainly today when he played a lousy cut shot which simply wasn't on. Like criticisms can be made of Jaffer and they can't properly apply themselves to test conditions then replacements should be made. Dravid may prove useful tomorrow as we will probbaly play for the draw (Ponting's not stupid enough to declare with a small target) but Yuvi's performace really does open up the prospect of change at the top as we have all suggested. Bring back Sehwag. Link to comment
The Outsider
An out of form Dravid still manages to hang out there for at least 50 odd deliveries, look at these guys. Link to comment

siddhu
The worst part is how UV and Dhoni didn't even make any effort Completely agree. I mean look at Rahul Dravid. He is also not in the best of forms. but he is making an effort at least (and a great effort). Stay at the crease, and have patience. and runs will come. Test cricket is not just about scoring runs, its about patience (which i believe he lacks especially after playing so many ODIs and 20-20s) and technique (got a decent technique against pace but against spinners even against mediocre ones like Hogg... well its a different story). The problem with UV seems that he is in a terrible mindset right now. He can blow away good attacks on his day. And the biggest problem is that those days are too few and far in between (in Tests). living
When he hit that 169' date=' everyone was singing his praise and hardly any calls of "Yuseless" was seen, now he fails for a couple of times, and we have those chants coming up again.[/quote'] Actually loads of us were saying that he will be Yuseless down under :D Link to comment
