Look at LYON.....He looked so potent and better than sub-continent spinners in Australia and england....but he looked poor in sub-continent .....

Also, bowlers like zaheer looked better than say broad in sub-continent conditions but he didn't do as good as expected in non subcontinent ....

Little baffled by this theory

It is same as our spin bowler bowl overseas,& their pacer's bowl in subcontinent.

It may be more about adjusting to different conditions also,as well as adjusting to different balls used ...sg,kookabura etc

Good observation.

Murali was easily dealt by Indians bowling with SG. But when he got the Kookaburra on his hand, on SL wickets (which are pretty similar to Indians ones) he flattened Indian batsmen.

Kumble and Harbhajan was all over SL batsmen in India with SG. But they were reduced to mediocre on SL wickets with the Kookaburra.

If one country was more spin friendly than other, the above could not be obserevd. On the other hand against Pakistan. SL and Pakistani spin bowlers have very similar stats home and away, because both countries use Kookaburra.
