Sachinism
Nope... Even the Indian team has 2 batsman who are better timers than him - Ganguly and Yuvraj. no way man as good as they are, they are not better than VVS Link to comment
Ram
And I wondered why on somedays I see a flowing VVS' date=' and on somedays a totally ugly Laxman with no feet movement! That explains the jekyll and hyde.[/quote'] oops...:D Link to comment
The Outsider
Azharuddin and Gower in full flow would shade Laxman IMO. Amongst the current lot, yeah Laxman is right up there with Ganguly coming close. Link to comment
Ram
I don't know if sufficient scientific analysis has been done on this front ' date='at least not to my knowledge . Then it becomes purely subjective analysis based on instincts . Having watched cricket for more than 25 years , if I have to make a judgment , the two batsmen I would pick would be VVS and Carl Hooper. In fact even the commentators Chappell and Slater were commiserating with my judgments that VVS is a better timer of the ball than Ganguly. Apparently , you must have missed some of his effervescent knocks in Australia. His straight drive for 4 is a mere gentle push many a times...[/quote'] That is the thing KR, you are mistaking the class of his shots, his ability to frequently find the gaps and superb use of his wrist to his timing. You know a ball superbly timed if the ball has almost crossed the boundary and is still accelerating, VVS' shots rarely do that. Ganguly and Yuvraj on the other hand though, some of their shots is the definition of timing. Link to comment
