Re: Site Feedback

We are a very lenient site .... infact this is as close as it gets to a unmoderated site .... So if someone like you crosses the line it will just attract a friendly advice .... But there are some others who have a big history of trolling which we are aware from past experiences ... for them that will attract a short ban depending on the seriousness. BTW any reason why you are asking ? :hic:
Well when you see the Indians refusing to visit this board because there is too much abuse against a certain country and a certain religion then you know there is a problem. Other than that you folks are doing a really fine job...i especially like Rajeev's video clips section.

To be honest it is their problem refusing to look at anything prior jumping into conclusion. What do you mean when you say abuse against a country and religion? I think that is to a certain extent a delusion. You don't hear praises about India on a Pak cricket board do ya? Similarly not everyone is like that here either. Some do overdo it a bit but as I said it is nothing new. True some have a go at Pakistan and its players but similarly a lot also show plenty of regard for Pakistan cricket too. As for religion there is constructive criticism, open debates and not absues. If you show us the abuse we will have a look at it otherwise we are not going to be able to moderate every post here. To be honest for every couple of islam critics there are equal number of hindu religion critics too. To be honest a lot of fellas just see the title of the thread and walk away. If you have a look you will see all religions are put under scanner. It simply depends on what you want to see really.

Re: Site Feedback I love this website but have only one problem. When you scroll down to the bottom of the page and you can select what page and if you want the newest or oldest posts first. Is there a way of making the newest posts come first without changing it. So can we make the newest post default fg [mod edit]

Re: Site Feedback I spotted a mistake in the description of the Multimedia section on the forums menu. It currently reads; Please ensure you read the Terms of Service thread in the Multimedia section prior using this forums. You are missing the word "to" - between the words "prior" and "using".

I don't mind the friendly banter or constructive criticism. There is also no denying the fact that there are some excellent posters on this board, the likes of Dhondy, Lurker, Rajeev etc stand out but there are also quite a few trolls. In many cases it's blatantly obvious that are trying to be silly and seek attention, so this being a suggestion thread for the betterment of this site i suggest that you folks keep a close eye on such posters and once in a while send them a warning or two!

Believe me some have been under the scanner before and have been told to not overdo as well. If it gets outright abusive one of the mods will swing into action surely but as I said there will be few digs surely at Pakistan but as you can see this website is not indulged in that agenda or anything. There is fair bit of cricket covered from around the world as well. If you have one look at the cricket discussions forum you will see there are no threads that are simply created for the sake of Pakistan bashing.

Re: Site Feedback Ravi, Since I joined this board, I wanted to tell you one thing. Can we make the home page neater? At present it looks kind of clumsy. Also a little bigger font will be more soothing to the eyes. But many news things have been added in past one and half months since I joined and full credit to you for that. Keep it up.

Re: Site Feedback Thanks for that kind words Chandan, glad you appreciate it. We had a bigger font and a bigger sized theme at first but we had to forgo that as the size of the website was a bit too wide. People complained of having to right scroll at times and then we put together the current look. When you say clumsy, do you have a particular section of the home page you reckon looks clumsy? BTW if you go to my account and themes you can choose from other themes. There are few that may have a bigger font size than the current one. We are sure looking to better the website on an ongoing basis and surely will consider your suggestions. Thanks for taking time to provide the feedback :wtg:

Re: Site Feedback Ravi, The Dream Blue theme is much better than the earlier one. But the only problem is that that the left hand side margin informing us about the members, their numbers, online status etc remains even after returning to the forum and this certainly stretches the forum page and makes is uncomfortable. Secondly, there can be a better way of mentioning about the active threads. At the moment it isn't looking very neat even in Dream Blue and one that I had earlier, it certainly looked really clumsy. While mentioning the valuable members, why don't we follow the number like: 01 02 03 04 05 .. 10 11 Rather than having it like: 1 2 3 ... 10 11 I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say. I have zero idea of a web-designing and so I don't know how easy or difficult it can to put my ideas in place.

Re: Site Feedback After a person reaches a certain amount of posts, they should be allowed to pick the bat they want. I say this because the best you can get is an MRF, but I'd want a Hero Honda ton (like Ganguly & Yuvraj use, preferably with a yellow grip :hic: )...

Re: Site Feedback Ravi, Three things: 1. I agree with what someone said about the top Nav bar -- it would be nice to have a drop-down on mouse-over or something. Or even a sidebar above the 'Reception panel' 2. The forum pages are too wide for my screen, both at work and at home. 1024x768 -- and I have to scroll left and right, which is a little annoying. It wasn't this way before. 3. On the text editor, tags and smileys etc are added to the end of the message, is it possible to add them to where the cursor is? I don't know if the editor has that option. Otherwise, kudos -- I'm loving the site.

Will consider doing it when I got some time COB

Ravi, Three things: 1. I agree with what someone said about the top Nav bar -- it would be nice to have a drop-down on mouse-over or something. Or even a sidebar above the 'Reception panel'
Drop down menu will be put in place shortly, thanks for the suggestion.
2. The forum pages are too wide for my screen, both at work and at home. 1024x768 -- and I have to scroll left and right, which is a little annoying. It wasn't this way before.
Not sure why you are having that problem, I have introduced couple of scripts that ensures the forums don't stretch horizontally. The forums is supposed to cater to a desktop settings as low as 800x600. When you say it is wide, do you mean for every thread or just some threads?
3. On the text editor, tags and smileys etc are added to the end of the message, is it possible to add them to where the cursor is? I don't know if the editor has that option. Otherwise, kudos -- I'm loving the site.
It is possible to add the smileys anywhere I'm sure. I can test it again no worries. As for tags, you can select the text you want a tag for and then press the tag button you want. That will place the tag for the selected text. Thanks for your feedback, some are pretty good suggestions and will improve the interface of the website.

Cheers, that exactly was my opinion too. The forums are in fact narrow and should cater to anything over 800x600.

Here you go Vroom, the menu is now in place. Needs a bit of tidy up with the Icons but the Menu and the navigation should work fine now :wtg:

Re: Site Feedback oh sweet drop down, Ravi (that's what she said?) thanks a bunch. -->I would label it Menu, and perhaps make it more prominent (underline or bold it perhaps), just to differentiate. -->It would be nice if the dropdown could drop a little lower, right now it covers the name of the thing that I am mouse-overing. -->As Anakin said, there is text on the top left corner -->The banner ads under the dropdown seem left-aligned, instead of center-aligned. Amazing turnaround time Ravs -- If I had a medal I would give you one :wtg:
