Washington, Rana in fray for India T20 squad

It was learnt that the T20 squad, which is expected to be announced on Monday, may well feature a couple of fresh faces who had performed impressively at the domestic circuit since the last IPL.

 

The 18-year-old Chennai cricketer was tipped to make the cut for the Australia T20 series but he missed out after failing to clear the Yo-Yo test in October. However, on Saturday, Washington cleared the Yo-Yo test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

 

Mumbai Indians allrounder Nitish Rana also appeared for the Yo-Yo test and he, too, might get a look-in after two hundreds and two half-centuries for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy.

 

"The selection committee is looking at a couple of bright prospects. Washington has been doing well as an off-spinning allrounder. There are a few youngsters who have been performing in the domestic circuit. But it remains to be seen whom the team management opt for this series," said a BCCI source.

Hope they pick a young wicketkeeper as well. Samson has had a good domestic run I believe and should be first choice.
