Sooda
Tyagi still injured? shame really, he seems like a good wicket taking bowler. So ROI shd be Mukund, Dhawan, Badrinath, Yuvraj, Kolhi, Jadeja, Parthiv, Chawla, Mithun, Kumar, Unadkat Link to comment
ludhianvi
Some random thoughts: Yuvi is the captain so he's a certainty in the starting XI. Since the Irani Trophy ROI squad should be chosen on the basis of the previous Ranji Trophy season, then Pandey should really be in the eleven considering he was the top run-getter last year. For those thinking that Tiwary made the squad by 'slogging' in the IPL, then think again. Sure the exposure helped him but last season, he averaged almost 100 although playing in the Plate Divison for Jharkhand. Mithun and Vinay Kumar should definitely be in the team as well if we are to give merit to domestic performances. Chawla also had a much better season than Ashwin but selectors may be tempted to give Ashwin a break after watching his recent bowling and the variety he offers. Ashwin probably a better choice for ODI's/t20s for sure but let's see how he fares inthe longer version of the game. Wow, must say that Unadkat has really been fast-tracked and seems to be appearing in the prominent tournaments since the u19WC. Kudos to him but he didnt even play in the last season although he was impressive in the Ranji ODI and the recent overseas tours. Should be interesting how Unadkat and Mandeep perform this season. Honorable mentions for those that didnt make the team: Sunny Singh,DS Jadhav, Ajay Ratra,Pankaj Singh, Ganesh Satish,CR Pathak,KB Arun Karthik,C Ganapathy,P Bisht,SB Bangar,KD Karthik Karnataka and Tamil Nadu both seem to have promsing young players who performed well last season. If they play with the same promise, then the future looks bright for them. Link to comment

Feed
Jaffer to lead Mumbai in Irani tie More... Jaffer to lead Mumbai in Irani tie Posted On Friday, September 24, 2010 at 02:01:41 AM Seasoned opener Wasim Jaffer will lead the 15-member Mumbai squad in the Irani Cup tie against the Rest of India at Jaipur from October 1-5. Medium-pacer Ajit Agarkar has been named the team's vice-captain, a media release from the Mumbai Cricket Association said yesterday. The 39-time Ranji Trophy champions have won the Irani Cup, the domestic season-opening fixture till the advent of the Corporate Trophy, 16 times that includes sharing the trophy in 1965-66. But Mumbai's last triumph in the tournament since its inception in 1959-60 was in 1997-98. Rest of India, on the other hand, have a strong squad led by Yuvraj Singh. The Punjab left-hander was axed from the Indian Test squad to face Australia in Chandigarh from October 1-5. This will be a chance for Yuvraj to put up a good batting display against a top quality attack and regain the Test spot once again. The Squad Wasim Jaffer ©, Ajit Agarkar (vc), Sahil Kukreja, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Abhishek, Nayar, Ramesh Powar, Sushant Marathe (wk), Dhawal Kulkarni, Onkar Khanvilkar, Avishkar Salvi, Iqbal Abdulla, Usman Malvi, Omkar Gurav and Harmeet Singh; Coach: Pravin Amre. achilles
Aavishkar Salvi... the past. Murtuza Hussain... the future. I think Salvi's absence will leave a void but Hussain might be the answer. Link to comment
Chandan
REST OF INDIA SQUAD Yuvraj Singh (capt.), S. Badrinath, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Abhinav Mukund, Shikhar Dhawan, Saurabh Tiwary, Manish Pandey, Parthiv Patel, Piyush Chawla, R. Ashwin, Abhimanyu Mithun, R Vinay Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Umesh Yadav. With Ashwin and Chawla in the XI, I don't think RoI would need to go 6 regular batsmen. In that case one of Tiwari and Pandey will have to be left out. Who do you think will be that unlucky one. I think they can't leave Pandey as he was te top run getter of Ranjis last year. So the batting line up would be: Mukund Dhawan Kohli Badrinath Yuvraj Pandey Parthiv Chawla Ashwin Mithun Unadkat Yadav Even then I ended up with 12 players. Can anyone prune this squad to 11, keeping the 5 bowlers in the playing XI? Anyway, this Irani Trophy is not as exciting as some of the earlier ones when our test bowlers like Zaheer and Ishant had participated! Link to comment

One out of Mukund and Dhawan will be dropped, Parthiv will be sent in as an opene and both Pandey and Tiwary will be picked. I also think Umesh Yadav may not get picked. They will go with 2 seamers (Mithun and Undkat) and 2 spinners in Chawla and Ashwin. Parthiv Mukund/Dhawan Badri Yuvraj Kohli Tiwary Pandey Ashwin Chawla Mithun Unadkat Link to comment
