Does Pakistan have a saviour in Imran Khan?

Pretty good article minus the thoughts on Benazir. Never could understand why Indian media has such affinity for her. http://www.livemint.com/2011/11/25201111/Does-Pakistan-have-a-saviour-i.html
1) Her father, Bhutto, had become sympathetic to India towards his end. In his memoir written during his stay in jail prior to hanging, he often compared India to Pakistan and wondered how India have kept the democracy alive. He would write on pieces of paper, use his thighs as table of sorts and these papers were smuggled out, often by Benazir. If I am not mistaken the book was banned in Pakistan and sold from India. 2) Some Indians looked at Benazir with the same sympathy as they looked at Gandhi family with protagonists having lost their parents in the service of their country. 3) Rajiv Gandhi and Benazir had a great chemistry. Benazir has noted this in her books. Although she kept it to diplomacy there was always a hush hush thing that there could be bit more between them. 4) Benazir was from Sindh, which was always dominated by Indian born Mohajirs and acted as a catalyst against the more anti-Indian Punjab. Hence Indian agencies have traditionally always supported a Sindhi as against a Punjabi. xxx

Quite true. But her quotes and speeches are on record. She openly supported the terrorist in Kashmir and her not so passive support for ethnic cleansing of the pundits in the valley. Can't think of many leaders who escalated the situation more than her.

Those times were different. Pak Army must have been upbeat after the Soviet withdrawal in Afghanistan and would have its way no matter which puppet was the PM. Rather than risk her life, she chose to be opportunistic and provided the token support for the Kashmir insurgency, not that it mattered. I recall posting in another thread the more recent interview of her with one of our channels (probably ndtv) where she suggested a solution worth consideration for the Kashmir issue.
