90 dharmshala's were filled with tourists in kedarnath ' date='during flood,no trace of 60 villages and 3 kasbas,it will take atleast 3 years to norm conditions in kedarnath.chamoli, uttarkashi, rudraprayag, kedarnath city completely destroyed ,people have started arriving in dehradun to find there relatives.:(([/quote'] It all happened due to cloud burst on Kedarnath hills. Rain alone wont do such destruction. Neither this is the first time we saw such rain here but never happened such ruins. Cloud bursting can really destroy everything in close proximity to it, especially in hills where large amount of water coming down in high speeds will despoil everything that comes its way.

the rescue op has been pretty slow and not upto the mark..thousands of people are stranded but the rescue resources are limited' date='it will be better from today though with more help funded[/quote'] That is because roads are destroyed and it has been difficult to reach those areas. Only choppers can go there.

I dont think that is what happened. Cloud bursting is normal and happens every year in hills at several places. Two years back, a cloud burst happened just 10-12 kms away from where my home is and it damages everything close to it. But it is the situation where it happened has made it more damaging because of the Yatra season going on.

Bhajji was also stranded there
yeah.....and he was also helping the people there: Harbhajan turns counsellor for stranded pilgrims, tourists
Cricketer Harbhajan Singh, who has been stranded in Joshimath, on Tuesday took the role of a counsellor alongside ITBP personnel as he met a number of pilgrims hit by incessant rains and floods. The cricketer is staying at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) camp at Joshimath since the last three days after he too could not reach Hemkund Sahib gurudwara due to inclement weather. The off-spinner accompanied ITBP officials to the forces' barracks and campuses on Tuesday where stranded pilgrims are being provided food and medicines and talked to them. "He counselled them (pilgrims and tourists) that all would be well soon and that force personnel and others are trying to bring as much succour as they can. He gave them food and water and spent with them," a senior ITBP official said. The ITBP has deployed close to 600 personnel for relief and rescue operations in the state and has opened up its office and residential buildings for the people to stay. "Our jawans have even emptied their barracks to accommodate the people who are stuck. Every effort is being made to provide food, water and medicines through two private choppers that have been pressed in by the force," the official said. The force has spread its men to rain-hit areas in Kedarnath, Gaurikund, Govindghat, Pandukeswar, Karnaprayag, Badrinath and Uttarkashi.
