Trundler apologists in India are dime-a-dozen. People don't realise that line and length without skills or some special attribute is useless. Casual fans as well as the batting obsessed Indian experts don't understand that value of pace. Won't be surprised to see us become the worst bowling side again as even our spin stocks are bare. Ranji trophy alone should be the basis for selection not an idiotic batting fest like IPL, glad Gurnoor made it, wish Aquib had made it too, hope to see the quartet of Ashok Sharma, Tyagi, Mayank and Malik bowl together for India

What a disappointment this IPL has been. The trundler love fest continues in IPL and domestic cricket, feel that we will be back to being a weak bowling side and unlike before we don't even have spinners to win. Our test side will struggle both at home and away. The inability of Indian management to understand, appreciate and show patience towards bowlers with pace is frustrating!

Indian commentators will say this was great performance as he stopped 6 sixes, by using his amazing skills saved 12 runs for his team

Absolutely agree, the sad part is that during Kohli's tenure it seemed things were changing for the better. All subsequent captains after him have shown little interest in promoting new fast bowlers or spinners. The sad part is that the average Indian fan is also batting and star obsessed, there is little support and understanding for travails of fast bowling. The worst are ofcourse Indian commentators who show little interest in supporting new fast bowlers, hate their blind faith in medium paced defensive bowlers

The conservatism boggles the mind, it's always safety first but what safety do trundlers provide. Also their bad performances always get blamed on pitches but this doesn't seem to apply for the faster bowlers

Remember that Harvinder Singh, he had pace but not a lot of control. He did well in the Sahara cup against Pakistan if I recall correctly

I'd like to see Indian commentators who are knowledgeable about fast bowling and genuinely interested and excited by young Indian fast bowling prospects. Added to that Id like the broadcasting to improve and treat bowling speeds as a regular facet of the game and include it as a package in both domestic and international cricket. With the kind of resources we have this should be a given

Agree with you, he has all physical attributes and skills to be a threat, however one worries about the mental side. Hope he is working on that side as well. Umesh with the right mental makeups could have been a sub 25 test bowler, he had all other attributes to succeed, same with Srinath.

Umran needs to find a team that will play him, needs to play more, same with Mayank although at Ranji level one hopes he will find it easier to find a place. Can't understand KKR and LSG, what's the point of paying for pace just to keep it in the garage. Despite the high scores, trundlers continue to find a place

Glad Hinge and Sakib are doing well. They may or may not turn out to world beaters but the conservative approach of a typical IPL setup or for that matter even Ranji setup is stopping us from becoming an all weather team

SRH bowling attack is a joke, will support any other team against them for their trundler love

You have to wonder if the teams are even interested in taking of wickets or just in restricting runs, not that the trundlers are able to do that either. Our obsession with batting and believing that alone creates entertainment means that we might go back to being a bowling deficit nation as now even wicket taking aggressive spinners are becoming harder to find probably because of a safety first approach

This. NZ has been a particularly egregious example of second innings blues for our bowling, multiple tests that we could/should have won if we had someone who could deliver in the second innings. I also wish they take Ashok and use him for shock value with short spells

Avesh and Prince picked a couple of wickets each. These kind of bowlers fluke a wicket here and there and so their figures look decent but there's nothing exciting about them.

This is great, we need bowlers who can support and ultimately replace Bumrah in tests, he is a strong contender, hope.Tyagi continues to progress and Mayank plays as well. I am hoping there is a redemption arc for Umran as well.
