When was Rohit even in the all time conversation in tests?? With the way he is going, he may even end up below Vijay and Gambir in the openers list..

A man can dream.. people say don’t rely on stats giving Sarfraz as an example. They want selectors to pick “talent” not on stats. What about talented people like Gill and Iyer then?? Let say you pick 10 players based on purely stats, I would say at least 6-7 out of them would make it. But you pick 10 players based on mentality or how good they look when they bat or how talented they are, you would probably get 2-3 good ones from them..

Duh… This applies to literally every bowler. England bowlers like seaming conditions, Australians want pace and they prey on batsmen who are not used to the conditions.

May not be a bad idea actually. Obviously with more filters in place, like monitoring average over a period of a year or 10 test matches .. If your average drops below 45 in 10 test matches, you are out, even if you are Kohli. Then the program picks one from the Ranji with the same criteria to replace this guy.. Takes away the superstardom fetish we have in India…

So England has never left grass on to create conditions for Anderson and Broad? Every team does it buddy, it is called home advantage for a reason. And even in rank turners, not all spinners are same. If you think Raju or Joshi or Ajaz or Phillips are as talented as Ashwin or Jadeja, then can’t help you..

Nope, end of the day it is always about the stats. You can be a talented player like Kohli, or a street smart player like Dhoni with average talent - either way if you make runs or score wickets. It doesn’t matter.. I would rather take someone who is afraid of facing starc but somehow finds a way to score runs than someone who has “fearless” mentality but gets out playing a loose shot.

On a cloudy day in England, Bhuvi can run through a side as good as Anderson. It is about doing it consistently, and over long period of time that makes them legends. And Ashwin and Jadeja have earned this tag. Dont knock down your own players just cause you have a personal bias against spinners. Even in tank turners, spinners need to not leak runs, keep it tight and not get carried away.

And how do you find this fighting “mentality”… is there any psych evaluation for this?? Just keep it simple. If seniors don’t perform, drop them. And bring in new players based on Ranji performance. Give them 4-5 series and check how they perform. I would rather rely on stats than this “fighting mentality” for selection..

You have been selling this theory for too long, probably your second most ridiculous argument, right behind the one where you were claiming Pandya as the next sobers in red ball cricket. If rank turner is the problem, why was India winning for the last 10 years ? Give credit where it is due, yes it was turners but our spinners were better and our batsmen were in form. Now our star spinners are aging, and batters are in transition..

After 2021 his game was always on the decline. Cheap or not, he was still valuable with some runs, wickets and keeping it tight. But in this series, his batting bombed, no wickets, and he leaked runs as well.

He was the highest wicket taker in the series. Past 2 years he has regressed, but his average was never as bad as this series. This series was a shocker..

I think it is time to say Goodbye, with Washington showing promise. Hopefully he goes out on a high. Virat was pretty much useless in the last 4 years, Jadeja had an injury break, Rohit was on and off, Pant was gone for 2 years, Pujara and Rahane were dropped….yet we still won. Ashwin has one bad series, his worst after 2012 England series, and we lost. Just shows that From 2012-2024, he was pretty much THE main factor for the home domination.

One bad series, and the haters are coming up from the rocks. Yes maybe it is time to move forward with Washington, but this series just shows how important he was in the domination..

Tbf it is not only Kohli who lost his form in 2019, it is the entire Indian batting lineup. We were surviving for 5 years because Ashwin, Jadeja and Bumrah were carrying us , along with some sporadic genius innings from Rohit and Pant here and there. This loss is not at a surprise for ppl following this team, the only surprise is it came too late, expected this against England or Australia.
