Even Pan Card must be updated with your bank,i gave personal check of 1,67,000, bank frozen my account (my  balance was okayed) because Local branch Manager Forget to update my local bank account with my First ever Pan card number.

If you have account in other country, banking Authority now knows all your other accounts since May 2016 'cause Link established between all banks, its better to pay tax of your interest earns in India even you files your tax return in USA.

 

Most people do not care but for your safety its better to pay tax in other country even you not need to file tax returns in India or Asia, this apply if you not work in India or you are NRI.

I created my account in 2005. Do I need to do this ? It says accounts from 2015.

Title of the article seems misleading. Article says that its is required only for accounts opened from July 2014 to August, 2015 (which I noticed after reading ur post).
