Pakistan tried to put a narrative that India is fuelling terrorism via this case. I think army amd estanlishmemt was caught off guard as they never considered ICJ route. Instead of Balochistan, now the discussion will be them not accepting ICJ ruling and subsequently murdering another innocent Indian. ICJ has already observed questionable Pakistani military Court https://www.dawn.com/news/1334435/the-jadhav-trap Cyril Almeida puts exactly what most have been saying on this thread. Its same reporter who Pakistani civ-mil junta took on task for reporting strained discussion between Pak Politicians and army over terrorism. Quote But what Pakistan did not anticipate is that India may get creative. Partly, that is down to the absence of quality input — to get the full implications of a death sentence to a foreign national on these charges. Partly, it is down to civ-mil — the case sitting precisely at the intersection of law and security, it needed close cooperation between the two. But for that, one side would have had to have consulted the other before setting the whole chain of events in motion. It is also an age-old institutional malaise — to seek a particular outcome without necessarily thinking through all the options the other side has. Pakistan is not stuck in the ICJ, but Jadhav was never about legal minutiae. It was about teaching India a lesson. That necessarily is a battle of perceptions. In Jadhav, Pakistan intended to get India to back off on the Balochistan stuff and let the world know that India too is up to mischief. But now we’re in the wildly complicated and intensely legal world of the ICJ. We weren’t supposed to be here. But then that’s the problem with doing the unexpected. It lands you in unpredictable places.
motomaverick
Were they not harping all this while that he was arrested from Balochistan? Now watch this slip up by their army man (first 35 seconds). Kulbhushan was apparently picked up from Chabahar so our narrative seems correct.
