back in my days of school cricket, we would play against Pakistan International School boys and there batsmen will come out without any helmet and pads because they weren't afraid of us (indian boys) according to them

Not to hijack the thread but our club did not have any money whatsoever. We only wore one pad on the frontfoot only.

I really agree with the OP here when it comes to 'putting sports in good perspective'. Cricket earlier was about players enjoying the game and giving the crowds a good entertainment, until West Indies brought their brand of fast bowling into the game.

 

Cricket writers need to take cue from such incidents and avoid mocking modern cricketer's protection equipment.
