I still feel its very unfair on Rahul n Rahane who has done well in tough conditions 

Kohli gets out in the same way as well. But the wicket was difficult to bat on and the bowlers were relentless with their line and lengths. 

Rahane honestly deserved this.

Kohli has made runs and is succesful in test cricket, he doesnt get as often out to same issue as rohit does

Everyone has some weakness, its about how to u make runs avoiding ur problem. The question with rohit is where are the runs overseas?

And how many overseas matches did he play? Rohit is an improved batsman ever since he started to bat in the middle order, he scored runs against SL, meanwhile Rahane was pretty mediocre against the same opponent. As for the current form goes, Rahane deserves this. 

 

Kohli is not successful in England, though.

Rahane was never a good batsman in indian condition , he was always avg 

Where is the proof that rohit has improved enough to play ahead of rahane who is the best overseas batsman. Rahane technique is suited for overseas 

 

Rohit has played enough overseas games, last time he played full tour of Sa n NZ and missed just one game in Aus 

 

Everyone has failed somewere, ponting didnt had runs for 1st 3 tours in india . Dravid doesnt have a good record in SL n SA.

Rahane is dropped because he's out-of-form. SA have Maharaj who is a World class spinner and can take out Rahane just as easily as SL spinners did. Rahane deserved to be benched.

One bad series doesnt make u out of form, even virat had a bad series against aus earlier this yr, so many player has one bad series here n there

A player like rahane who has scored runs every where , specially when he is the best batsman of pace , seam n swing doesnt deserve to be benched. He avg 70 in Sa and doesnt deserve to sit for a guy avg 11

IF one series starts to become a criteria so many player will  start to get benched. Sachin shud have been benched in 2003 tour down under when he failed in 1st 3 test

 

Ur talking as if rahane hasnt scored against any opposition with spinners, a yr ago he avg 50.....

 

Also lets not forget Rahane is our best slip fielder. U dont drop gr8 player on basis of one series . Take any legend and check his record even he wud have had bad series

11 matches - 34.62 across 4 series. 

If we take out Bangla,

10 matches - 31.71 across 3 series.

 

There's no proof that he will carry on the same form as he did in the last overseas tours, which happened 3-4 year ago. If Rohit fails, then we can play Rahane.

Nobody is bigger than the team that to say his spot is fixed and the truth is Rahane has been pretty mediocre through out a year. It is Rohit's chance first and then comes Rahane. Let Rohit play couple of matches first before writing him off.
