False. Ponting's record vs South Africa ( which had TWO top quality pacers in Donald and Pollock ) is superb, so is his record against Wasim-Waqar.

Ponting is my most least liked player. Anytime I see him come to bat, I wish the worst for him honestly. He's a good player I guess, but I'd never rank him in the same league with Sachin or Lara.

to be honest i don't like ricky ponting ..i hate him as a person...just cause of his arrogance and unsportive behaviour.., but when it comes to batting, to call him a medicore is not fair...although stats are not always true, but it does give you some idea about one's capability....and people who think that he would have failed against mcgrath and company...i remb him palying for tasmania against nsw...there was mcgrath, lee, mcgill etc....he scored centuries in both innings and won the match for tasmania...he played mcgrath with ease....i believe ponting is himself responsible for the reputation he has made for himself.....even in aus people cheer for every tendulker run and can't be bothered about ponting's century....... ponting.......wonderful batsman of his generation###:two_thumbs_up: ponting.......most embrassing human being to represent aus:finger:

And here I was thinking posters on this site actually understood cricket...... I suggest all those Ponting haters have a look at his amazing hundred in the 2003 World Cup Final. He destroyed India's bowling like few have before. BTW it is coming up to the 5th anniversery of that innings, I think i'll start a new thread for that.... If that's not enogh have a look at his hundred against England in 05 when he batted out the almost the final day and a half to steer Australia to a draw. No batsmen in World Cricket atm could have played that innnings. Anyway it won't be long before Punter is tops the list of most test centuries and most runs scored. It's inevitable. I bet that will make the Indians happy....

LoL!! You Wish. Punter is one of the most popular sportsmen in Australia, even more popular than Rugby League or AFL players. He has the most sponsorship deals of ANY Ausssie sportsmen.
