Test Squad through the life cycle curve

Players in:

1. Introduction Stage: Pant, Shaw, Gill, Young bowlers, .... 
2. Growth Stage: Pandya, Kuldeep, Bumrah, Rahul
3. Maturity Stage: Shami, Pujara, Umesh, Ashwin, Jadeja, Rahane, Kohli, Bhuvi, Ishant, Saha
4. Decline Stage: Vijay, Dhawan, Karthik

 

Those in growth stage should be encouraged, the ones in maturity stage have to ensure that they do not move to decline stage, those in decline stage have to reinvent themselves or be replaced by the ones in introduction stage

It also appears as if the life cycle of a player in terms of effectiveness internationally has shortened as well. The players fade quickly. Considering the amount of cricket being played and the different types of formats, the days of 15-20 years of solid international career are probably gone unless the players keep reinventing themselves .... Which implies that we have to rely on current form and keep introducing key talents at the right time
