BJP Government is presiding over Congress System. System knows, If it has to survive, Government shouldnt be allowed to come back.

BTW oil prices. You cant do much in current era. I hope BJP government does understand India is using more and more oil  and Trump is not happy for india to buy it from Iran at discounted price. It can not rely on oil.

So what is being done as solution like Shifting/Mandating Indian car/transport requirement to alternative source of energy

From past twenty years India is unable to setup CNG network in whole country and you are talking about shifting to other sources .It will take 50 years to shift to Electric vehicles

Many things: For example, It can make oil expensive for 4 wheelers while Public transport vehicles be given a mothly discount per mile on the price.

More Investment in public transport.

Additional levy on cars over 1 litre.

And so on

Diesal is 90% used by trucks tractors and farmers. How will you make Diesal expensive for them?

Cars over 1 litre are already taxed more nothing new in it.

And if you sell fuel at two price with large variation then it will give birth to big black market.

Public transport still has big problem of last mile connectivity

CNG is best bet for Govt , yet CNG is not available in small towns and not even on highways where trucks can fill them

Thats an example. You can tax more and siphon the money to public transport and say as you mention , development of CNG based petrol pump.

A ultimatum needs to be given to car industry that, Boss only CNG/Electric vehicles be sold in India by year so and so. A serious effort is needed instead of fighting over whether it should come under GST ambit or if they need to reduce taxes to cut the prices.

Each litre of Petrol spent means government must earn Rs 50 in some other export
