I dont understand this concept of paying money to your ex-spouse after divorce. I dont exactly recall the name, but if i am right, its called repatriation expense or something. Why is it paid and for what ?

Take a lesson from this- and don't forget your prenup agreement before you get married. Else, the girl may clean you out of your hard-earned money in the future.

I was following this on TV and I gather that the prenuptial is not enforceable in UK like the way it is USA. It is totally left to the discretion of the Judge in UK ..Hence her appeal.

Well then we are bolloxed in the UK. I guess it means we should use our brains more and our penis less for making decisions about who we marry.

Pre nup is not legally binding in Uk. But it can have some influence on judges verdict if drawn up fairly! So they say still best to have one as can help. But must be drawn fairly so still for example mills would have got millions. I dont think anyone agrees with these crazy verdicts. Even women are disgusted by this verdict. These big payouts for short marriages are crazy.

It's usually paid out when the spouse is earning significantly less - the judge decides whether she would be able to survive on her own and calls for an alimony settlement based on that.

She deserves it. Remember she is rasing their kid as well. MC is worth almost a billion dollars.
So you think 50 million dollars is not enough to raise the kid ? Apparently the judge thinks it's ok and so do most public !

It all depends on the life style you want your kid to have and how much money the kid as his heir deserves to get. Paul M's kid deserves to live like a queen and yes, 50 mill is prolly enough, but nothing for Sir Paul to be so adamant about not giving.

Well give him custody and then she can have the lifestyle you deem she needs.

From what I gather , he was willing to settle for that amount outside the court ... She wanted 250 million dollars... The concept of prenuptial took it's nascency in USA because of litigation like this ... You can't expect the man to shell out 250 million dollars for four years marriage ...
