Bring it on I say:isalute: ------------------------------------------------ Proteas will thump India: CSA chief DURBAN, March 18: With the world's top ODI batsman -Graeme Smith, leading them, the South Africans are all set to "thump" India in the upcoming three-match Test series, feels Proteas' Cricket Board chief Gerald Majola. Lauding the in-form Smith for guiding the team to the top of the ICC ODI rankings, Majola said the South Africans will be a tough proposition for the home side. Cricket South Africa salutes Graeme on remarkable achievements at such a young age. "Graeme's leadership qualities have really come to the fore, and CSA is confident that he will take the Proteas to the number 1 spot in Tests as well," Majola said. "India beware in the forthcoming three match Test series which starts in Chennai next week. Graeme Smith and his boys are going to thump Anil Kumble and his charges," he added. The 27-year-old Smith became the top ODI batsman displacing Sachin Tendulkar after a fine run of form in the series against Bangladesh. The CSA chief lavished praise on the left-hander for his remarkable form with the bat. "At the age of 27, Graeme Smith has set several landmarks which put him among the best young captain/batsman yet produced in world cricket," he said. "The Proteas, under Graeme's leadership, have finished the international season as the No.1 ODI team in world cricket and are looking to take second spot in the Test ratings," he added, lauding Smith's leadership. Smith is the only South African with four Test double hundreds and he holds the world record for the highest first wicket partnership in Tests with Neil McKenzie (415 v Bangladesh at Chittagong).

yeah we lost rather comprehensively last time around in the ODIs, but it was blatantly obvious that we had absolutly no glimmer of a strategy going into those games. nonetheless, this CSA chief's premature adulation for Grame Smith can only be followed up with him publically blowing Smith, before zaheer khan blows him away all together. hate to sound like a jingoistic fracker, but i would pay top dollar to see the indian quickies rape smith. on the field, no lube, and run a train on his ass.

they seem to forget that their new found glory in ODIs is thanks in parts, if not completely attributable to india's murdering of australia in the finals. heck, had we some more wits to ourselves, we should have defeated the aussies 5 out 5 times in the past series.

Bumper, apart from Chennai pitch, there is every possibility that the rest two will be a dead pitch. I'm kind of curious about SA's strategy. They have just Ntini as an experienced bowler who has bowled on Indian pitches. Rest all are new in the attack. Yet, SA scrapped the only warm-up game they to play before the series? Why? Are they planning to catch India by surprise in the first test and then play negatively to protect that lead in the next two matches? If so, what can that surprise be, apart from speed of Steyn and Morkel? They have enough experience on the batting front but how are they this confident that Steyn, Morkel, Harris etc will deliver with SG ball on Indian pitches without even one practice game?
