By slogging I am not saying closing eyes and hitting, that is not his game. But if needed he have taken the strike rate to 150+. Ofcourse he can't go 180-200+ , that is beyond him but around 150 he has done pretty consistently till 18 months back. His regression started with the world cup and he has not got back his mojo yet. Kohli, in the 2008 to 2011 period or thereabouts, could not slog at all and did not try even. And this helped him retain his basic classic batting. Gill opening the batting will enable him to do the same in ODIs. During PP1, he can hit lots of boundaries by playing classical strokes only

I have seen both of them and dhawan was definitely better. These are the type of arguments which are driven by a particular agenda. Next you will say that zaheer >Pollock Or gambhir>devilliers. Atleast trust your eyes. Point wasn't about who is better batsman, who is the hero. Dhawan isn't close to hero, whereas gambhir, who might be less of batsman than Dhawan is a hero for winning his team WC. Same with Yuvraj Singh, he might be less of batsman than a lot of players, but he is god damn Hero.

Dhawan might be more aggressive but Gambhir was a genius against spin and could play in the middle order as well with his ability to rotate strike Considering World Cup wins,Test record and IPL you would have to put Gambhir ahead.
