I remember a time when Foreign coaches were the only option since  Kapil dev...

its actually guys like Arun and to some extent Sridhar (for good or bad) who do the coaching work. Shastri is more like a manager.

 

Also I have understood why Sridhar is kept in the side. He looks like he is very comfortable working with players like Siraj and Natarajan who may find it a little difficult to fit in with the more urban crowd.

yes but they come from very humble backgrounds. Natarajan is not from Chennai, he is from smaller town in TN.

 

Siraj too is from old city Hyderabad. It’s as good as coming from a rural area.
