All valid points...and all that i am already aware of. However, i am commenting on a fact, not the causus belli behind it - fact is, India is much much more backwards socially than the west- not just in material development of life but also spiritual and social development of life. Actually, India is by far the worst offender in the world when it comes to sexual abuse. Amnesty International has already covered this, where Indians rape people at an unprecedented rate of something like every 10 seconds an indian is raped by an Indian. Err...show me some evidence...i followed the whole 9/11 saga very closely and there was no sectarian violence in France attached to 9/11....the Sikhs that were abused were in the States... Mate, the poverty is of our making. Incase you didn't notice, many of the western nations were utterly decimated after World War II- Russia, Britain, France, Germany, the low countries, Italy, etc. were big, smoking, charred ruins due to WWII and yet they made a far stronger comeback than India post Independence. True, they got investment help from the Americans (not Russia) but the KEY reason they did so well is because they didn't increase their population by over four times in this timespan. Most of India's poverty is due to Indians breeding like rats and producing more mouths than they can feed well...this isn't something you can blame on colonialism really, for the western nations as well as Korea, Japan, China, etc. have shown far stronger progress in the last 70 years than India has and that has to do with OUR corruption, directionless governance and far more myopic society. No, i am most certainly NOT generalizing on this topic. So what we have women Prime Ministers and Presidents when India is the #1 nation (outside sub-saharan barbarian nations) in violence against females- per capita AND cumulatively ? So what we have made rules safeguarding the interests of women- it is utterly irrelevant what rules we have in the book when the society is producing stunning amounts of violence and opression against women- and the rules you speak of, India has adopted nearly 50+ years after most western and developed Eastern nations. ?????? Here is my perspective on India - we WERE once a great civilization that got owned because we lacked unity. It is passe to blame the fall of Indian civilization on the 'evil muslim invaders' and to a large extent,it is true on the surface- they did genocide us, kill off our institutions in intellectualism and freedom. But the REAL cause of that is **OUR OWN** infighting weakening the empires/land. The Bactrian Greeks invaded us after the Mauryans were betrayed by the Sungaas, the Guptas lost to the Huns (who were the first wave of destroyers to visit India) after their feudal system collapsed, the Muslims only made a breakthrough after the Bengali, Gujjar,Tamil and Kannada empires ground each other down to dust by non-stop war and the British only got a foothold due to Mughal-Maraatha feud. But India, TODAY, is a backwards, myopic civilization with way too many problems to see any sort of social prosperity, even in the distant future. India and Indians revel in their past glory, but fact is, we have little or no claim to a civilized society today and going on a patriotic bender won't change that. If anything, the kind of patriotic dogma many display here (not saying you are guilty of it too, but your post was very defensive) and the defensive mindset displayed here only delays any actual social change in India/stunts it, because justification of our present times takes away the urgency for change and genuine contempt that Indian society today deserves. But it is literacy and maturity that defines a civilization- not just hoarding gold and banging rocks together to make monuments....
After reading other threads in which you have replied about India, I don't think it is worth our time (for both of us) to argue because I will not be able to convince you that I have a valid argument. You have formed an opinion due to your own experiences that I do not believe will change. I will concede that I am the same. If you call me defensive, then I will call you pessimistic (and I am sure neither of us can be categorized so easily). Therefore, I do not wish to continue this debate. For the mods, I think it would be best if you separated these off topic posts into a separate thread in the Chit Chat forum. I appreciate your patience on this and I am sorry that an argument beyond the scope of this thread was formed due to my reply.
Yes, i am well aware of that inferiority complex afflicting most Indians above the age of 20. Yes, we are often being prejudiced against, but in most cases, it is well deserved. For eg, Indian guys are often steriotyped here as being dunderheads with low physical attraction quality- and while on the surface that is offensive, is it really deviating much from the truth ? How many desi guys you know who can be good mates with women as opposed to tongue-tied and fidgety and thinking 'she must wanna sleep with me coz she's talking to me!! she smiled at me!' ? It is neither a generalization or a falsehood to say that the latter group outnumbers the former by probably 100:1. Now look at guys growing up in the western context- far more relaxed around women. How many desi guys are in good physical shape and how many desi chicks are downright 'hot' ? again, far less in average than westerners/easterners because we don't invest in looks and physical beauty- it is seen as 'vain/slutty/etc' to even dress in jeans and shirt for most girls, nevermind actually looking 'hawt'.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Your opinions are far far different than mine. As a 17 year old, I'd consider myself to be in the right frame of age to say (for myself - which might not reflect their personalities at all) whether the women I see are beautiful or not, and let me tell you as an undergrad student in the US, the folks in India - to me personally, look very very beautiful. This generation, the previous generation, and the one before that (looking at the actresses in various film industries in India), I find Indian women to be quite beautiful in the heart and in their "looks." Not only in films(as generally thats how most people find "beautiful" people in India), but if you just take a walk in any town or city in India, you can find so many "beautiful" people walking on the roads. (I have used people, women, and girls interchangeably here). You cannot judge whether someone is beautiful or not. You have no authority to (and here, I don't mean you specifically but in general everyone - I apologize if I seem arrogant). This is something I cannot agree with you on.

compare this moment with the Kolkata test in 1999 where a similar incident run out Sachin &  triggered riots in the stadium

None of them. it's a competitive international sport - gamesmanship is not only expected at times, but also the most sensible outcome on occasion
