DomainK Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Well, I think everyone will agree that no team is absolutely fair all the time. Emotions are involved and hence players tend to overstep the line at times. The question asked here is, who oversteps that line least often? We will limit the poll to teams to the test playing ones.
f.b.m Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 What do you mean? Which team plays in the best spirit? Or is it about how jingoistic the fans/media are or something else?
The Outsider Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I would say NZ, if I am interpreting the question correctly as to the team which plays in the best spirit. However, power corrupts and I can see a trend where the better the team is on field the worse it's behavior becomes at times. I mean who are BD and Zim going to sledge or abuse? The exception being Pakistan, whose performance and behavior on field both suck, what with the likes of Akhtar and Afridi in the squad.
DomainK Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 Which team plays in the best spirit.......not fans.
Ram Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I have voted for Zim. My reasoning, if you dont even play at all, then where's the chance to indulge in unfair play ? :D
DomainK Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 What about BD? I hardly remember them sledge or abuse or do anything against the spirit of the game.
Laaloo Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 man y did u do a closed poll?? i wanted to see who voted for who :D
OriginalCopy Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I think overall Australia is the fairest team of all. Symonds is the only one supposedly dark there, and even he looks fair. Ponting and Hayden are very fair too, and so is Clarke. New Zealand runs a close second. Other than Jeetan Patel, I don't remember anyone dark there. West Indies ofcourse are the darkest team, followed by Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. England are also relatively fair, except for some Asian origin players like Mascarenhas, Owais Shah, Bopara etc which taints their team. South Africa have their quota, so they are no longer fair. Same with Zimbabwe. India too have some relatively fair players like Yuvraj and Tendulkar, but again they can't match the Aussies in fairness. Balaji is not fair at all. Pakistan are also fairer than India - Imran, Wasim, Afridi, Butt are all fair. Same goes with Umpiring too, Darrell Hair is among the fair umpires, so is Billy Bowden, Rudy Koertzen. Asad Rauf and Aleem Dar are fairer than Venkat Raghvan was. Billy Doctrove is the most unfair umpire! I hope I was fair in my assessment :-)

DomainK Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 Billy Doctrove is the most unfair umpire! Forgot Steve Bucknor?
OriginalCopy Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 He's too partial to be called an umpire ... so I didn't consider him in the list :-) Plus, I only considered umpires that were not blind and deaf.
Parth Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Zimbabwe doesnt count becuase they either never show the match on tv or there arnt enough matches played
Temujin Khaghan Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 sri lanka is a team i would support if india lose in a major tournament.
Laaloo Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 sri lanka is a team i would support if india lose in a major tournament. i would too but jayawardane has a habit of talking out of his arse
f.b.m Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 This is the only incident that I can recall from the top of my head involving NZ was this one: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlbTN4eieRY]YouTube - Spectacular Run Out | Murali | Sangakkara[/ame]
Indus_Army Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I would have to go with NZ here. They might come across as the fairest team, since they do not play very often and therefore, not constantly under the average fans' radar. sri lanka is a team i would support if india lose in a major tournament. They are my least favourite team in the sub-continent. The player celebrations during WC'07 game only firmed it up. The celebrations, on what was essentially an academic game for them was definitely OTT. 88YvAgJN26s Pakistan, at it's best during the 90s and earlier in the decade were a delight to watch. However, their team of today is a sleeping pill. Bangers, on the other hand are slowly growing in standard. As disappointing and shocking as it was back then in '07, watching reruns of the Ind-Ban game recently gave me an opportunity to admire their attitude, which was lost on me amidst the sorrow of defeat. If they keep producing players like Tamim, they will climb up the ladder pretty soon.
