Ok, lets round up some of the young Indian talent we have seen so far: 1. Shikhar Dhawan - His bat-lift and general stance reminds me of Yuvraj. He piled on lots of runs during the last U-19s and then suddenly seemed to have faded off. This is a great chance to show what he is made of and he gave us a glimpse during the first Daredevils match. I'm hoping there is more to come, I like the look of him! 2. M. Gony - Bulky and typical fast-bowler build with a simple action. He is already consistently hitting above 140s and is able to bowl at decent line and length. A stint with Prasad will only see him improve and I am damn hopeful to see this guy soon. As much as we seem to have a settled bowling line-up, it is heartening to see such great reserves. :icflove: 3. Abhishek Nayar - I had heard Gavaskar talk highly of him. He is supposed to be a utility allrounder. He can easily be a specialist bat. His performance today, under pressure, was as gritty as it was entertaining. In the final lap, it is only the attitude that matters, and he has shown a lot of it in this brief cameo. Another one to look out for and it helps that he is a left-hander. :two_thumbs_up: 4. Badrinath!!! - There has been so much talk on the forums about this man, and I had never really seen him play. He definitely did not have any jitters when he came out and he could hoick them over too. Let's see how he performs throughout the tournament. If he is really as good as what I've been hearing abt him, he MUST be in the national team. At first look, my gut feel is he BELONGS at the world stage. I'm damn happy he is playing under Dhoni presently and hope that Dhoni recognizes the talent. Niice! Terrific fielder too! 5. Suresh Raina - I had read that he has improved his batting massively and then checked him out during the Challenger series. My my! He was spanking boundaries at will, and like Gambit said, he seems to have added a nitro boost pack lol, with the way he is effortlessly hitting sixes now. He was absolutely at ease supporting Hussey during the Chennai innings and am very glad he is also playing under Dhoni. 6. Yusuf Pathan - Hits the ball a long, long way. Started out a little lame, but has two 50s at an excellent strike rate now. Useful "fast" offspinner, decent on the field. But, obviously it is BIG hitting that marks him out. Looking forward to see how consistent he can be. Definitely not overawed by the big stage as witnessed during the T20 final. 7. Ravindra Jadeja - A clean natural hitter whose main role is as a SLA I think. Impressed in the first match, and in the second one, threw around his bat a little too much. Still don't see a place for him in the national side as of now. However, under Warne's captaincy, we might be on to something special. 8. Ashoke Dinda - Nippy for a bowler of his frame. He has bowled well and been consistent with his pace around 140. Looks a good prospect. Would give him some more time. Honorobale Mentions: Virat Kohli - This guy is damn electric! My WOW, what a catch that was. He is very energetic and plays his cricket very passionately. I saw bits of him during the U-19s and this guy is definite international class. Aggressive and very representative of young India. Will fit excellently into Dhoni's team :two_thumbs_up: Unfortunately Kohli has done nothing exciting after a great start, and is out of reckoning, at least for now. Rahane has disappointed so far. But, I wouldn't judge him on that. From what I've heard, he's a good test prospect. Pankaj Singh hasn't done much of notice either. Ojha has looked very bad, with silly fielding mistakes and uninspiring bowling. We terribly need some spin talent!
Ravindra Jadeja - A clean natural hitter whose main role is as a SLA I think. Impressed in the first match' date= and in the second one, threw around his bat a little too much. I don't see him as international class. Don't see a place for him in the national side as of now. But, he has done well enough to warrant a mention, especially because he is doing it in a team that badly needs all the performance it can get.
Abhishek Nayar - I had heard Gavaskar talk highly of him. He is supposed to be a utility allrounder. He can easily be a specialist bat. His performance today' date= under pressure, was as gritty as it was entertaining. In the final lap, it is only the attitude that matters, and he has shown a lot of it in this brief cameo. Dhawan, Gony, Jadeja, Dinda and Kohli have faded away this season. Nayar has been going on without getting the reward of getting picked. But I'll add Tyagi to the list: Sudeep Tyagi: The guy is tall, extracts good bounce which surprises the batsmen, has some terrific deliveries for right handers and we saw such a peach getting the only centurian of this IPL for a golden duck. His speed is also good for a domestic cricketer from India and he bowls in 130s. He is a strike bowler and can improve a lot.

jadeja hasnt faded away. he is a left-arm spinner who can bat a bit. should be used as a bowler. he was the highest wicket-taker in ranji this season shikhar dhawan hasnt been used properly by mumbai indians. he is their 3rd best batsman. once he gets a proper chance, he will play a good innings and some more players to watch out - kamran khan, sudeep tyagi, shadab jakati, t suman

How many ****ing chances should Dhawan get? He's failed in every single one of them.

Really? I am not, given that Dhoni thought the mighty Kappu-who is a better bat than Badri after seeing him in action all of IPL 1.

Jadeja played a brilliant inning yesterday against Kings XI. And of course he fields well. But even Warne hasn't trusted his bowling apart from just one match. But Dhawan was unfortunately the biggest failures among the bright stars of last year. He was given #3, he failed there and below that position, he still failed and now he is out of the tournament. It is so disappointing as I was expecting him to grab attention, straightaway! Tyagi is worth keeping an eye on. Jakati was very impressive in his match vs Daredevils but I was not that impressed by him against DC though he did take 4 wickets. T. Suman also looks good. How about adding Amit Singh to the list? His speed was in late 120s but he was so accurate that he really troubled the Kings XI batsmen and didn't let them get quick runs in the beginning and took 3 crucial wickets!

Oh really? All he did was come in the middle and stop the momentum. Credit should go to Nayar for that innings he played in the 1st match.
the par score is 150 in this ipl. and dhawan ensured that no wickets fell in the middle and that allowed nayar to come & smash everything in the end. without that innings from dhawan, mumbai would have folded for <150

And apart from this 22 runs, what else has he scored in 4 other matches? Sorry. He simply doesn't cut it where youngsters like Raina, Rohit and Yusuf are doing so well. You have to agree that he failed miserably this year. On the other hand, Sachin is just not letting Saurabh Tiwari bat despite keeping him in XI. And I guess, he'll be in XI today as well.
