CC1981 Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7359258.stm Mecca as 'center of the earth' ??? WTF ? I know firsthand that intellectual development of the Arab/muslim world is laughable, but how the fook can a solitary location be the 'center' of a spherical body (the earth) on its surface ? And even *IF* one were to declare a point to be 'center of the world' on the surface, how the fook can it not be on the equator (all point equidistant from center of the planet, at its core, is at the equator) ?? Islam plumbing new depths of insanity i suppose...
Desi Cartman Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 And even *IF* one were to declare a point to be 'center of the world' on the surface, how the fook can it not be on the equator (all point equidistant from center of the planet, at its core, is at the equator) ?? yes I was thinking on the same lines couple of weeks ago when I first heard Dr Zakir mention it in one of his videos .. Its funny actually, that people are trying to justify bible , Koran etc with the help of science while they ignore the facts that do not match .. also its amazing how they ask for scientists if they have any proof but at the same time they dont have any proof of God , prophets being sent by god , Mary getting pregnant even though she was a virgin etc etc etc ...
Desi Cartman Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Mecca is the direction all Muslims face when they perform their daily prayers. Im not a scientist or a mathematician , No matter in which direction they pray (east or west) since the earth is round so wouldn't they be always facing Mecca and have their behinds towards mecca at the same time anyway ? Correct me if I'm wrong
Cricketics Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 o, so a post against Islam. never expected this from u cc1981
Desi Cartman Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Tics , I dont know about CC but I have never posted anything against any religion. I might have asked questions as to why is it believed. Also, whenever I write anything about any religion its generic .. Just to be clear .. I don't have anything against people who believe in God or Islam or christianity. Im just asking questions to learn something !

CC1981 Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 arey that post of mine was for CC1981... even if a midget of talk was released against islam here on forum.. he used to term the person as rascist. so i am bit surprised how he created this thread Since i am so much of a stickler, i'd be calling that person a bigot, not a racist. :giggle: Anyways, i think all the old-timers know fairly well that i am NOT a fan of Islam and i have criticized it many times here. However, i am not a fundamentalist- my essential tilt is that of a left-leaning moderate. The times i went hammer and tongs on certain(mostly former) members for anti-islamic attitude is because: a) They deviated from the facts and exgaggerated their allegations, thus rendering them null. b) Their attitude was anti-Muslim rather than anti-Islam. I have no problems saying it to ANYONE that i consider the Koran to be pretty far from 'holy' or even 'respectable'. But i do not consider any muslim to be fundamentally inferior or different than us. DDU- you are correct- since the earth is spherical, you can face whichever direction you want, so long as you arn't looking up or down, you are ultimately, facing Mecca or any other point on this planet. However, unlike the ancient Indians and Chinese, the Romans, Israelis and Arabs did not believe in a spherical world- they categorically believed in a flat world. Which is why the Koran will tell you so-n-so went to the 'end of the world' and saw the sun set in a muddy pool, the bible will tell you how Satan took Jesus up a mountain, showed him ALL the lands of man(impossible in a spherical world-a mountain nomatter how high, will not show the further side of the planet) and offering it to him yadda yadda, how one must face a 'certain direction' to pray for Jews/Muslims (which is FUNDAMENTALLY not required if they had the knowledge of a spherical earth), yadda yadda.
Gambit Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 You know the rules CC. No religious discussions here.
