Split squads - India's panacea for the new age?

So looks like a second string squad will leave for SL in a month or so for the LO series. We've seen something similar with the last Asia Cup in UAE, but that wasn't completely devoid of regulars IIRC? Now it's a fact that we can field at east 25-30 intl quality players who can feature in one or more formats at the highest level. Oz have tried this but failed miserably almost every time. The question is should we make this a habit especially for giving the backups regular match practice or experience? There's of course the issue of TV rights which could sell for a lot less, should we try this for home as well given that WT20 & at least the WC 2023 will be held in India

Except England & Australia which are our primary rivals we should look to do that against other sides. 

So far to an extent only England has been able to field two sides for tests & LOIs.. 

Sri lanka series will be a good start for us to test our bench strength.

It could be. But does it mean BCCI will have to double the number of players they contract? Increasing in O/H expenses does mean that they’re able to generate more revenue through more matches. I’m not sure if all the other boards will be willing to take on the “second” string side.

It's time we create two different teams for Tests and LOI. They can play two different teams in parallel even if it is the top sides in the world

We are on a (hardcore?) cricket fan forum, I don't see why semantics matters here - they are technically second in line, so a reserve squad at best. Call them whatever you like - Musketeers for all I care!
