 The article linked above talks about eliminating funding for ecohealth alliance's gain of function research. Better late than never.

It gives more credence to the stance that all gain of function work on pathogenic viruses should be banned permanently and non-negotiably. Whatever insights that may be gained from such research is simply not worth the risk. Even as a strong advocate for science and technology being the way forward for humanity, I have never been sure what was the thought-process was in allowing gain-of-function research in the first place.
