You need a cool brain to do that. Just outstanding.:two_thumbs_up: You usually hurry into a run out. It was Shulka's mistake and partly that of Sharma as well. But Dhoni was very clever. Street smart cricketer.

that was amazing. i was wondering what was going on. very smart!
Yeah, in the beginning even I thought it was Jogi's dumbness to keep standing like that. But then I realized where it was coming from.

Cricinfo coulnt have make it sound anymore confusing-

Joginder Sharma to Shukla' date=' OUT, that's gone and what fine thinking by the fielders, Shukla can't do much with the yorker and Ishant wants a single, Dhoni throws the ball back to Joginder but the bowler doesn't take the bails off immediately, Ishant is walking back to the pavilion and Shukla is outside the crease when Dhoni signals to Joginder to take the bails off. At the point when the bowler did that, Shukla was out and Ishant in.[/quote']

I think the ICEMAN had a role in it too...but Dhoni IS sharp, we all knew that. But for true cricketing brilliance... [ame=

That was brilliant thinking, because Dhoni saw that Ishant was on his way back, and the ball is not dead till the stumps are broken, Jogi waited till ishant crossed Shukla and then broke the stumps ! Go Dhoni...VVS, Ganguly et al...sign up for captaincy classes under Dhoni

Shukla playing 2 balls extra ( he was at the strikers end ) could have meant 8-12 runs...which may be the diff in a t20 match...THATS why Dhoni is a champs captain....AND thats why CSK rock !!

dhoni didnt really need to do that, KKR score was well under par anyway could have been a good sportsman and left it
:dito: especially since Laxmi only stepped out to have a word with I sharma

Nothing "unsporting" about that...and Dhoni was being a thorough professional. He saw that the batter ( Shukla) was out of his crease and that Ishant will cross him, so naturally why would he give Shukla batting on 42 to play 2 more balls and possibly strike a couple of 4s ???? Because 147 was not a high score ?? Nonsense ! what if Chennai had collapsed later and needed 20 off the last over with 2 wkts in hand..see how much 10 runs can make a diff ? If two batters are stranded in the middle, doesnt the lesser batter always sacrifice his wkt for the well set main batter ? Thats strategy and smart thinking...so fielding side will try to get the well set batter out. Simple as that. That is the difference between just winning teams, and Champions approach. Every minor detail given maximum attention, because they all count in the final result. And everyone knows now why Dhoni is a thorougly professional winning captain.
