A thread for celebrating Axar Patel.

In India our biggest superstars are usually the ones who the common man can relate to.

 

We love Rajnikant and Amitabh and celebrate them as our biggest superstars because we can relate to the way they look. They look like someone we encounter in our day to day life or someone we know, when you add swag to that look it makes them more endearing and fan favorite.

 

There is a reason why Sasi Kapoor’s son who looks like a white guy was rejected or someone like SRK or Amir who look like middle class boy next door are bigger stars than Hrithik or John Abraham.

 

Similarly we might be in awe of Sachin, Kohli,Bumrah or Rohit Sharma because they have a lot of  attributes including genius talent  and work ethic.
 

However the common man cannot relate to that but on the other hand when I see a player like Axar Patel, I can see a guy who is a common man and fights for the common man and presents the struggle of the day to day common man taking on corporates, political system etc with all he is got.
 

His fearless batting approach and his punching above the weight with his bowling with all his limitations is one of the greatest things one can watch on the cricket field.

 

Axar Patel’s batting reflects the pain, ambition and passion of everyone who ever went out to bat with the intention of impressing the girls who are secretly watching from their windows. His bowling presence reminds me of the time when we ran out of options but we saw a guy who skipped our mind but now we remember that he can potentially might make something magical happen.

 

He might not pull of a blinder but he will stop what’s in front of him 9/10 times and will not drop catches. What else do you need?
