East region has been denied cricketing action over the decades gone by.

IPl is totally different. we have players from different countries. after 2 seasonf of sanford twenty20. i bet it's not even watched or discussed enough by ppl outside west indies the way IPL has been discussed and watched by outsiders even in the middle of first season.

Even in ICL, Ahmedabad joined in the second season. But I dont know how they will be able to make a new team with the auction already done. I dont think the auction will be held every year so they may have to wait 3 years unless an entire team is shifted to Ahmedabad.
bobbydhillon Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 i guess it would take few yrs to expand the teams just cant increase so frequently , hopefulyy they do increase couple of teams in few yrs not like 16 teams in few yrs then it would be too much cricket and too many teams . i guess ahmedabad for sure maybe one team for central india and then to eastern part . main thing is to do it gradually.

Well, IPL has to first decide how many teams are going to be launched in their upcoming season. Suppose if 4 teams are launched, there certainly can be auction only for those 4 new comers. The already 8 franchises can have a trading period between each other.
