Benefit of doubt to the batsman

I used to hear this a lot in my childhood from the commentators. When there is a confusion even after seeing the video multiple times, why don't they give benefit of doubt to the batsman in this era? It cost Pak the match and fodder for twitter warriors like Daniel Alexander.

Regarding the Saud Shakeel dismissal, in such touch and go instances, the onfield umpire's verdict will take precedence. 

 

Cameras flatten 3D space data so there is always going to be some distortion of perspective on replays. Tough on Shakeel, but 3rd umpire followed protocol.

Once it goes to the TV umpire, he should decide based on the evidence at hand. 
 

I am not even sure on umpire’s call where the ball is clipping the stumps. I understand the limitations of the technology (and various scenarios such as what if the bail does not come off - on most occasions, bail would fall off) but if the ball is shown to be clipping the stumps by the technology, it should be given out.
