Ashwin for a short while batted at 6, Saha at 7 and Jadeja coming at 8. As a result, Jadeja ended with quite a few not outs but not enough runs. He certainly had the batting talent as he had scored triple tons in domestic. But it took him a while before he came into his own. During early part of his career, he was laughed off and trolled for not being good enough in both the facets- batting or bowling. His test bowling went underrated as a result. yes, he was always a capable bowler. if anything, he was better in the middle part of his career than his early/current part of his career.
putrevus Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 (edited) Imran Khan for most part of his career was a bowler who could bat and he was nowhere near Botham or Kapil dev as a batsman. He was your classic number 8 just like Warne.Beefy was an upgrade over Stokes just he was too lazy to work on his game and became fat. Best allrounder to me is Kallis , followed by Botham. Kallis and Botham were excellent slip fielders also. I would put Jadeja over Kapil, Imran and Hadlee. Ashwin would be close to all these players but his batting regressed from his early days. Edited January 4, 2023 by putrevus
