Top 10 all rounders of all-time

1. Sobers

2. Imran

3. Kallis

4. Botham

5. Miller

6. Kapil

7. Jadeja

8. Cairns

9. Tony Grieg

10. Stokes/Shakib

 

Others who missed out - Hadlee, Ashwin, S Pollock, Flintoff, Vinoo Mankad, Vettori.

 

Hard to pick between Stokes and Shakib. Stokes was probably the best couple of years ago but these days he has become a specialist captain. Shakib has gone downhill too.

 

Hadlee, Ashwin and S Pollock not really in the genuine A/R category, more in bowling A/R. Flintoff was a genuine A/R but had a short peak with the bowl which was his strong suit. 

 

Apart from these names, can't really think of any other quality test all rounders. Proctor was elite stature wise but didn't played international cricket enough. The likes of Watson, Jayasuriya, Klusenar are LOI greats.

Is Shakib Al Hasan a greater allrounder than Garry Sobers?

 

And does R Ashwin rank higher than Imran Khan?

Again, had all these players played for a weaker test nation or an associate nation, we would have seen a better picture if you ask me. It would have truly showed their capability on a regular basis since they would have had to do more with both bat and ball (like Shakib).

It's a very subjective analysis..Shakib did a good job in a minnow level team but it is also a fact that after years of being around, his team has hardly played any game in Australia or England or South Africa. Most of the matches Shakib plays are in BD so those stats alone aren't enough to put him on top. It's a bit like say, Ten Doeschate averaging 60+ in ODIs but that doesn't put him in that top league because he mostly played against minnow teams.

If Shakib is greater A/R than Sobers, then Doeschate is also a better batsman in ODIs than Kohli. 

 

And Ashwin's batting average is 10 lesser than Imran Khan.

Lol i wasn't making a statement. I just included the the title of article from cricinfo. Thought people might find the article interesting.
