Haha..I was talking to someone about this recently :-P. We thought of lots of places but finally decided to choose among the following 3 depending on which part of the year you are going: For winters: 1). Rajasthan Palace on wheels. Costly@about $4000K per head. But awesome. 2).Kerala backwaters+houseboat. Also, pure beaches. For summer: Leh-Ladakh. No competition.

Palace on wheel.. thought of that.. but it takes about 7 days to complete.. thats too long.. and 4000 dollars or rupees? and 4000 'K'? but do you know if booking is easily done? Kerela .. seems like everybody is going there.. so trying to overlook Kerela.. Yeah Ladakh.. in summer but not Dec / Jan ..

Darjeeling and Sikkim would be cold but not that cold. They are good bet. If you want to stay away from cold temperature then you can visit Trivandrum. Some of the best beaches in the country and very clean, nice hospitable place. Fooding may be an issue unless you put up in a good hotel. In fact you can visit quite a few nice places around Trivandrum, specially with Southernmost tip, Calicut etc. Look them up.

Hahah..yeah I mean $4k, sorry about that. $4000K would not be a bit costly...:haha: http://www.palaceonwheels.net/cgi-bin/bookings.pl Looks like there are slots available in Nov/Jan... Also, there lots of tours with palace on wheels. The 7 day one you are talking about is $2200. Which is quite good in my view. But there are others more longer/expensive ones too.

IMO..Honeymoon should be be a place..where people will spend more time knowing the place than their life partner... a less crowded..more serene ..green..place...or quite...peaceful sea front...would be a good idea... mu suggestion will to completely ignore the common "famous" Honeymoon spots.. Dec/Jan is usually nice weather all over india.... North-east is not too sub-zero even in winter...delhi gets to 2-3 Degree C...only Sri Nagar..goes beyond Sub Zero... My suggestion would be to try out some places in North East...

palace on wheels is too over-rated for the money it costs

Haha..Kerala is awesome. From whatever I have researched and heard first hand. Backwaters+houseboat resorts+massage+beaches FTW.

I wouldn't suggest Palace on wheels etc for a honeymoon trip ... its a tourist thing not for relaxation. As for kerela , my brother went for his honeymoon there and hated the weather. He loved the place but said the weather was way too humid. He went there in 1st week of dec I suggest go to a place like Mauritius (Rs 100k for a couple incl meals etc etc ). you will have a great time or maldives , diu , Anadaman etc ...
