Saw this on reddit 2 days back. What sort of joker is this Kuldeep? 8th standard kids gobble up such catches, and this is an international cricketer.

Kuldeep is the worst fielder I've seen along with Chahal and Siraj. Drops dollies and in the last match he actually parried the ball over the ropes for a 6! Plus he's extremely slow in the field and can't hold the bat to save his life. He isn't good enough to deserve a spot in LOIs and I would pick him only for Tests or in ODIs if it's a spin-friendly pitch.

Someone like Parag, Axar or Vipraj offer much more than Kuldeep and the time is running out for him. You need to be at Bumrah and Varun C level to be in the team based on only one skill. Kuldeep isn't that good and shouldn't be in the team as you expect him to be good in two disciplines.

Tbh, Siraj sometimes plucks blinders, and always gives his 100%. Inconsistency (mainly due to lack of control over emotions) is his problem, not ability.

I am now beginning to sympathize more with selectors/TM for abandoning Kulcha few years back. Itna 1D koi banda hai toh better be best in the business in your only skillset.

Also from many player interviews, Kuldeep comes across as a crybaby/whinger, negative traits in a team sport. If you notice, he wasn't picked regularly even by KKR, same franchise who showed so much faith in Chakri. If someone gets mentally shattered because of a single over in IPL (Moeen Ali), there is something lacking in mental toughness dept.

I say this as someone who always had soft corner for KD, still do (hope he makes a roaring comeback in business end of this WC), love it when he is on a roll....but he goes missing far too often these days, even the 0-5 test losses at home were in large part because of his ineffectiveness...I can only contrast him to 31 yo Ashwin/Jadeja and how they always found that extra gear when team needed them most.

Kulcha was as disastrous for us as Kohli's LOI captaincy. It led to a tail starting at 6! Forget batting collapse, we couldn't even manage fall of couple of quick wkts! One of the top 3 had to score a 100 with couple of others scoring 50+ for us to get a decent total and even then Kulcha shat the bed against better teams. We had to play our best game else we would lose.

This is why our fortunes turned when we reverted to batting till 8 with Axar coming in. Axar could bat and also field well and the difference in bowling wasn't that much. Unless you're a game-changer like Bumrah or Varun C, you don't deserve a spot in the team based on one discipline and neither Chahal or Kuldeep were that great. Kuldeep has struggled in high-profile matches or against better teams. Still remember him getting hit around in the 2024 WT20 final. Axar was hit as well but he at least contributed with the bat and without him we probably score 150 odd instead of 170+. But Kuldeep is useless in other areas. That's why I want to see Parag and Vipraj given a run as batting till 8 (preferably 9) is a non-negotiable.
