Rohit Sharma 'personally requested' Gautam Gambhir to bring back T Dilip despite Test retirement

Who is calling the shots now? Who is making these appointments? Rohit retired from tests but Dilip will be there in England tour, make it make sense!!!!

Zero accountability, after Indian fielding standards having dropped below Pak, BD in last year or so.

More fielding medal ceremonies @raki05 :aha:.  We even had a ceremony after CT final where we missed 4 catches, 1 runout etc.

Sacked post CT, rehired without India playing another match since then, this is PCB level circus.

Also during the medal ceremony after 6 drop catches he starts his bhashan with

Today we were tremendous in the field. We attacked every ball and made great saves.. we played as a team and supported each other ( uh uh yes in dropping catches) .. and nominees for todays match Kuldeep Yadav..

They have to create another role for him if they like him. Definitely not fielding coach.  India is never known for good fielding compared to south Africans, Australians, New zealanders. They have picked a guy who have never played competitive cricket as fielding coach. It is mind boggling.

He should not have been brought back. We dropped loads of catches in Aus series and CT, we dropped catches in England series (resulted in us losing 1st test) and now once again we are dropping catches in Asia Cup. Either his catching drills are not good or players not taking the catching practice drills seriously.

He is a motivational coach. Giving medals to those who catches the ball.

Indians have taken some incredible and memorable catches since he has become Coach. We have had some terrible days like in England with Jaiswal or this recent Pakistan match. Overall I feel athleticism has definitely improved. Case in point- SKY, Axar. Bumrah, Siraj were average fielders but have taken some incredible match turning catches recently.

Dube is average fielder. not seeing any improvement. Can only blame coach so much. Maybe he is trying to improve bowling, so will let it go for now.

Jaiswal, Abhishek Sharma are excellent and athletic fielders usually. Let’s give them a pass for one bad day.

Overall like Dilip. Knows what he is doing. Extremely scientific approach to coaching.  Excellent coach.

Does guy like Mohammad kaif show any interest in being fielding coach? I am sure someone who has played cricket should be able to do this job.

Just because Kaif was a good fielder doesn’t mean he will translate into a good coach. Bharat Arun is a way better bowling coach than Kapil Dev. Like Dilip’s approach. Very scientific and methodical. If he is done bring  someone else in that mould.

some cricketers work hard on coaching skills like Dravid, Kumble. Don’t see Kaif doing that. He is always commentating.
