Two bad games and the daggers are out... Sachin is a must if we want to win Worldcup 2011
And two bad games due to the chumps lack of sight.

mere presence :hail: vida maatanga... this mere presence :D
What do you get by instigating a Sachin fan ? You might be the most sanest and most buffed Indian cricket fan in the world (who is also a closet Dravid worshiper), you don't need to remind it to us again and again. If you do not have any thing valuable to add, please do not start the fire in every ***ing thread

Man, you losers are some of the most short-sighted specimens on the planet. When all seems hunky-dory and Sehwag+Gambhir are making lots of runs, Sachin all of a sudden appears dispensable. But how conveniently all of ya have forgotten that it was this very same Sehwag who couldnt buy a run in 2006 and it was this very same Gambir who never went past the 20s against high-quality opposition at one point of time. Mere mortals like Sehwag and Gambhir will have their ups and down, rises and falls. Only God is ethereal. When Sehwag loses his form again( I am not hoping it will happen, I just know it will happen), lets see where all the cacaphony reg. Sachin's place in the ODI line-up is. However, as I've posted a few times before, It will be really interesting to see how Sachin copes up with this current batting line-up, which is fundamentally different from all other India XIs he has played for us. Till now, most of our batsman have been the typical subcontinental wristy, rely on timing sorta players. This team is not like that. Its more in-tune with the demands of the modern game, which relies more on power and brute strength. However, like he has always done before, Sachin will find a way to meet this challenge head-on. When people were asking him to be dropped from the ODI team after WC '07, he responded by dishing out one of his BEST ever calendar years in international ODI cricket. He will rise to the challenge again.
quoted for truth. btw, the idea that Sachin's presence doesn't add to the side is quite ludicrous and just shows the sheer ignorance of some here when cricket is concerned. Great players always bring a certain aura to the field and dressing room with them, and one as humble and open as Sachin can do a lot just by being in the dressing room. Ask Dhawal Kulkarni, who before he had played f/c cricket for Bombay was sharing an IPL room with Sachin - and picked up a lot of tips about bowling the right length and mixing up pace in T20s from the master. Having a player of that calibre in your side gives the other 10 men an extra shot of confidence, and one with the performance of SRT will always intimidate the opposition more than an unknown. If you don't think the presence of great players like Warne, Tendulkar, McGrath, Ambrose or co. added anything to their teams - you obviously know jack **** about PLAYING the game.

Its been plain obvious that in the last 2 years, where he's had 2 really good seasons in tests, he has played the least number of ODIs( due to injury and being rested). I'd rather see him score lots more test runs than ODI runs. But, thats a personal choice for him to make.

As good as Sehwag and Gambhir have been - and they were easily the best opening pair in the world last year - India still need Tendulkar to win matches against GOOD teams. Sure, against SL, PAK, ENG and other average ODI sides, Tendulkar isn't needed. But when India have to play teams with quality bowlers - ie; AUS or SA, Tendulkar immediately becomes the most valuable wicket in that batting lineup. And in tough chases, regardless of who the opposition is, Tendulkar is the guy who leads the way. I don't think i'd feel comfortable seeing India chase 250 on a tricky pitch without Tendulkar. The thing is, even if Tendulkar isn't scoring runs, he still makes a huge difference. I have lost count fo the number of dismissals effected by his input given to the bowlers. If you are the captain, he is the guy you will look to when the team is struggling because someone of his experience who has seen everything this sport has to offer will always be able to give you invaluable advice.

Bump. Anyone who still thinks SRT isn't needed in ODIs, please turn on your TVs and watch Tendulkar playing a freaking amazing knock with impeccable structure; a cautious start combined with calculated risks, and now some unbelievable strokeplay.

Looking at his strokeplay here, his sheer command over the bowling and field placings, and his energy running a quick single now even after 2 and a half hours at the crease, there's no way it can be said we don't need him. He's still a finer batsman than most other people in the country and still one of the very best players in the world.
