tweaker Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 Eashwaran and Sarfaraz are specialist as they dont feature in T20 or ODI.Both didnt play in IPL. Gambhir preferred Sai and Karun over them. Most of the test team have players who were exhausted after playing in IPL. playing Eashwaran, Sarfaraz, Kuldeep would have made difference in the three test played. The Selectors blocked places in the squad by selecting Sai,Shardul, Arshdeep. Number 1

No harm in trying Tilak and Sai. Karun Nair is not an answer though. One or maybe two allrounders are fine but three ia definetly an overkill considering none of them are bowlers who can threaten an opposition. This same strategy by GG gave us 1-3 results in Aus. Why do you think this would work in Eng? 2nd test was definitely an anamoly since Akashdeep/Siraj had an unblelievable match. Yes, lower order produced runs on a flat pitch but any defensive team could have easily drew that game. We have 2 batters with test potential to play for long in Jurel & Sai. Need to test them by giving 8-10 tests before discarding. Issue is Jaddu the AR is failing in his role of controlling bowling at one end in SENA and no quality bench strength in Pace bowling , We have to live with now and cannot expect win series outside india consistently . DeepSpace Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 Agree wholeheartedly. We have too many bits and pieces players!!!
singhvivek141 Posted July 19, 2025 Posted July 19, 2025 Problem with Test Specialists is marketing. A player who dont play in IPL isnt a marketable face. They have to work extra hard to ensure people remember their names. Likes of Aryan Juyal, Shashwat Rawat, Musheer Khan, Pradosh Ranjan are some of the batters who have good FC numbers and havent played for India.
