crictime Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 (edited) Comfortable win by 52 runs for India. This is a very good victory margin. Credit to SA for scoring near 250 but 299 is always very tough in womens final. Team selection was not good with too many all rounders in team, but credit to Team India who have managed to win it with the lack of proper specialists in bowling. Credit to Harmanpreet as well. Shefali's innings of 87 was a classic display of power, timing and placement. Top scored for India. She absorbed the pressure remarkably after the first wicket of Smriti. She did not let the Saffers dictate the terms at that point of time. The down the wicket six she hit by stepping out of the crease was as straight as we see by some of the best in mens cricket. She forced a bowling change. The boundary over cover....my word, it was fantastic. 299 in womens ODI final was never chased before. SA could not get the required rate below 6.5 in most part of the innings and once the two back to back wickets were taken by Shefali, the RR gradually went over 9. The match looked done and dusted once required rate went over 8. Too much in finals. Hats off to this women's team. Girls, you rocked tonight. The semi finals was a neck to neck win with few balls remaining, but here India were favorites once we posted 298. Edited November 2, 2025 by crictime Forever Indian 1
tapandrun Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 V.good win. Finished 4th in the qualifiers, hard fought SF and F. Senior player showing-up and performing in the matches where it mattered most. Was not perfect game but that happens sometimes with pressure of playing such a big game. Nice fight by SA too. Good tournament for them as well. After a big loss and v.bad game in the start of the tournament they pull-up and played v.good cricket. Think the target fr a final games was too big, A v.good knock by Wolvaardt keeping team in the chase, may be 1 more fifty from some1 else would have done it for them as well. Congrats to the team!!! Laura Woldvart played a chanceless innings until she got out. The wickets kept falling at other end which put her under pressure throughout the innings. Still she absorbed the intense pressure exerted by Team India very well. Especially tough for SENA team to reach the finals in asian subcontinent. tapandrun 1
