Six left handers in the X1 today! This must be a record for India and perhaps a world record too.

I love this. I remember in 80s and early 90s, there were practically  no lefties in Ind team.  Kambli, Ganguly and Robin Singh changed that. Since then we had 1 or 2 regulars in the 11. Yuvraj, Raina, Gabhir...

There were some ODI or T20I recently where we had 8 lefties in the 11. Loved it.

I remember SL had a lot of lefties in the 90s. Jayasuriya, Ranatunga, Tilakaratne and some more. Was thinking why we don't have many. Now, we can make a lefties XI

Not too long ago , we had a deficit of left handed batsmen. After yuvi / Raina retired , for a long time we had only jadeja as a left handed batsman.

Now it seems that every batsman being picked is a left handed one.

No wonder our white ball fortunes have shifted..

2019 WC we had plethora of right handers at the top once Dhawan got injured and it came back to bite us.

2023 WC final another example

We're still making the same mistake in ODIs and that's the reason why our ODI team isn't as good as the T20 team. Our ODI lineup is all right-handers... Gill, Rohit Sharma, Kohli, Iyer, KL Rahul, Pandya. Jadeja is the lone left hander and he himself is useless in white-ball cricket. Half of this team shouldn't be there in 2027 but here we are.

We need likes of Sai, Ishan, Jaiswal added ASAP as it makes it more difficult for bowlers to nail line & length, and also helps in managing matchups with a left-right combo in the middle. Our selectors really haven't really learned anything. Selectors don't have the balls to take tough decisions and BCCI babus don't care. 2027 will go the same was the previous 3 WCs coz of our apathy. We have the talent but our decision makers are useless and don't want to shake the boat.
