I will not eulogise this guy until he delivers big time over a sustained period of time in tests. He has had a big run in tests and still not fired! Not in same league as Sachin, Dravid, Kumble and co until he delivers in tests. The hype around him is ridiculous considering in the big league i.e tests he has been ok but no more!

When we see SriLanka, Jayawardanae broght Mendis immediately after 10th over which shows his confidence on his bowler which allows the bowler to bowl with confidence and prove his talent. But Dhoni always brings our spinners only after 20 overs without having any confidence on them or he is not brave enough to take such decisions which will make the a huge difference. When we see SriLanka the team is with right combination of Senior and Junior players. But when we look at Indian team there is no respect for Senior players. Does anyone feel Rohit Sharma and Utappa are better players than Ganguly and Dravid?

After the heartbreaking loss in the Asia Cup, after all we dominated the tournament, due to a complete surprise factor in Mendis, he has made amends. What I noticed that day was MSD's body language after the match. He completely accepted the defeat and conceded it to the one factor: Mendis. He did not sulk in self-ignominy. He took it lightly and made jokey gestures (Mendis finger flicks) with the Sri Lankan camp while shaking hands with them. Attitude and self-belief can take you far.
SachDan Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Flamy, now you pointing at his captaincy does make some sense as his team has won quite a remarkable series victory in a place where even the best of teams struggle.. still feels its premature to call Dhoni as a complete captain...in ODI's he's right up there as one of the best current captains.but his worthas an Indian captain can be judged only after seeing how he handles the team in tough tours like Aus or SAF.

Also, I must add, that he always seems to win AGAINST THE ODDS. In T20, it was a total experimental setup. In Aus, he lost Zaheer, RP and even Ishant for the final. Now in SL, he has won without Tendulkar, Sehwag, Ishant and no contributions from Gambhir or Yuvi (batting-wise). :hatsoff:

I vacillated back and forth about this fellow. I have wondered if his self-imposed "Rest" would cause some unrest among the other players. I'll even admit that I have even wondered whether he has an anti-Badri agenda and was pushing for Kohli's inclusion at Badri's expense. But, now, I am a believer. I am not sure what he does (as captain) or how he does it, but it is working. Maybe it is just his ability to win the toss more often than not. Whatever it is, more power to him. If nothing else, what an ODI batsman he has proven to be. For that alone .... :hatsoff:
