zen Posted February 28 Posted February 28 With so many games played each year, along with a large pool of players where picking in form players is easier, teams (at least IPL ones) should experiment with rolling captaincy where: a) There is no fixed captain and vice captain b) A senior leadership group is set up c) A player from the senior leadership group is assigned to captain a game on the day. For the next match, there could be a different captain. d) A relatively long term captain in a format should only be appointed if there is an extremely strong case for him to lead relative to options. But he should ideally be appointed on series basis. The coach would have relatively more power in this set up but a coach can be appointed for a fixed term of 2-4 years.
Forever Indian Posted February 28 Posted February 28 There is already enough uncertainities in Team India, so no need to add another big one. It is gonna create unncessary comparisons regarding how many games each captain won, whom the players respond best againt, etc... etc... Also Gambhir getting even more power is the worst outcome one can imagine... His blatant favouritism will become even more apparent. BacktoCricaddict and zen 1 1
