kepler37b Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I think this is happening due to inflation in living costs when compared to increase in wages. I have an opinion that this will impose hard limits on urbanization. The tier 1 cities will not longer make any economic sense for many businesses. What do you guys think?

My barber, a pretty hardworking chap from bidar, complains that rent has skyrocketed and he may need to relocate. A super market near my home has closed down as the expenses are not making any business sense. I am sure this is the the story across the country's tier 1 cities.

The problem would be more in city outskirts i guess. Where do you live, is it in peripheral areas? Problem would also very city to city. I am seeing street food inflation 25% and general inflation 5% in one month here in delhi. Rent is high in tier 1 and metros I agree. So are the property prices. Needs 20% correction. I live in the area where almost all IT wageys live. It is by no means an outskirts.

Gurgaon, Noida are more expensive than delhi-proper. I agree with your point. Rents and property prices need 20% correction for better functioning of economy. kepler37b 1

I feel property prices should rise atleast 20% more by end of 2027.
upriser7 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Service sector folks are relatively underpaid in India. It is kinda inevitable that service sector wages will rise atleast in big cities in near future.
