Who After Kumble?

Absolutely Sehwag. He's got the touring experience, and really inspires confidence with they way he plays. Plus he's also a part time bowler so he can view both sides of the story. It's still to early to for Dhoni who's not done a whole lot in test match cricket apart from playing that fantastic knock in England to save the test match.

He's not that kind of a cricketer who's afraid of a failure. So pretty sure that he'll enjoy that additional burden!
not talking of afraid. captaincy is best left to non-performers like ganguly, dhoni, etc as they can take the pressure of captaincy without affecting the team much.

Would love to have a bowler as our captain. Its been a while since India has been captained by bowler. I think the last one was Kapil Dev. But looking at the current Lot dont think there is much you can do.

True...though everyone is anticpating him to be the next captain of India in test matches and he misses this chance of proving himself again. I like Dhoni but I think this will come to bite him back.

Well, apart from abilities, politics will also play a role. BCCI knows better than to give one guy too much authority. I guess Sehwag will be preferred to Dhoni.

Can see opinions changing and thats Indian Cricket supporters for you :D When I started this thread most posters thought I was just showing my disliking for Dhoni.

karthick's career has been screwed around. first dropped from the test team cause some hot-shot light up the ODI scene. then brought back as an opener. now recalled as keeper/bat cause the hot-shot decided to take a break. this karthick is the same guy who was keeping reasonably well and was slowly getting his batting in order (ex: the 93 vs Pak in the 2nd innings). of course the guy didn't do himself any favor by letting his keeping deteriorate to levels lower than even dropthiv since being dumped from the test team. back to original issue, here we are talking about sehwag taking over captaincy which is a bad idea cause we need sehwag's batting more than his captaincy whereas with someone like dhoni who is hardly contributing with the bat, there wouldn't be much of an impact.

This is international cricket. Not backyard cricket. There is competition and if you cant face it, you dont belong here.

Yoda, your victim mentality for South Indian cricketers is shining through and though. Yes, Karthik was keeping well, Who asked him to give up on it and try to be selected as a batsman? Forget about the one 93 he made, what was his average? You were the one shoving averages in everyone's throat when Dravid was leading Tendulkar. Rhyme and sing with me - Karthik sucks and if you don't do it you are nothing more than an anti Northie who has an agenda to peddle around (just paraphrasing your earlier comments)

Piyush Chawla :hysterical: No seriously, heard he was a good captain of the U19 team and when Kumble goes we need a quality leggie.

He averaged 43 in 2007 the year he was brought back after being dumped for the hot-shot. Don't tell me that a Raina or a Rohit Sharma would have been dumped after a 43 run average year. Yes, he sucks now, but didn't in 2007 when he was dropped for the 2nd time.

If Sehwag plays well on this tour' date=' he will certainly fancy his chances for captaincy. What if Dhoni decides he wants to skip yet another test series in future ?:-D
