NZ relies a lot on planning no matter what era they play on. That is why they are making through to knock outs consistently.  Opposite of "mercurial".  SA on the other hand always had the fire power, X factor yet faltered due to choking.

Icc f/sf are about initial shock value, any team able to do that wins, Aus even when they were super team had this tactics v.clear and it worked with Gilchrist.

SA lacked that kind of player or a tactics 

 

Nz has improved vastly, they are the only team that can play and win in both sena and sc conditions without making much changes to the team , they have used those yearly pak tours wisely, they played and developed alot of players from those series and got lot of exp. playing vs a 100% strength home side.

 

Nz also lacks that shock factor but this time they took out sa with shock factor
